Thank you so much for sharing your story and information. I was EXPOSED to the same thing recently by someone I had seen through the hobby. He has only seen 3 providers I being one of them in the last 6 months. He came down with symptoms and turns out he had chlamydia. I got the call at 8pm and was in to Dr. SArani http://californiastd.com/ 323- 231-600 the following day for my tests. One of the other providers in question also went in that day. His clinic is the only clinic in California to get rapid results for complicated DNA tests.  The quick test  discribed above is only 60% accurate which is not acceptable to me. The DNA test usually takes up to 2 weeks with your local MD or even through AIM from what I understand. As a provider I needed to know sooner than later so that I could take appropriate action if indeed I had tested positive.  I normally am not in a hurry for a test result but this one was I wanted ASAP!  My cost was more than the above post but I was paying for rush which is well worth the exchange and as far as I am concerned my responsibility as a provider. I not have to give them any ID or a DL # . In fact my test results say "Katlyn Ambrose'" so that I can freely share them without exposing my real identity. He also gives 10% discount to providers and his bedside manner was amazing! I found myself actually smiling and laughing with him which was more than I could have expected considering why I was there.  


So.... although I had no symptoms I was given the antibiotic as a precaution and discussed in detail chlamydia and gonorrhea. Apparently California is having a huge gonorrhea outbreak. Here is a link:

Chlyamdia and gonorrhea can be passed though oral and LOVES the throat  As safe and clean as we all feel we are if you play you put yourself at risk. Not to scare anyone but it can be spread by deep french kissing! This was a shock to me for sure! He says if anyone is in this hobby and married they should just call their MD tell them you have been exposed and get the antibiotic as a precaution if you don't want to go though the testing and screening. I think that is a good idea.


There were some rumors and finger pointing while we were all awaiting the tests. What I felt is that regardless of whom gave it to who it is there.  I felt in this case the people involved were not spreading it with the knowledge that they had it so it was just luck of the draw, bad luck in this case. I am so thankful to this gentleman who did the right thing and came forward to us. Many would have taken care of themselves and not mentioned it to anyone. He should get a gold metal.  In our close circle (which gets really small when you start to draw the chain or play~ per say) many of the hobbyists have gone in for tests just in case. We have sent each other out results as a double check system and it has been a learning experience for everyone.  


So I got my test back and thank goodness I was NEGATIVE for both chlamydia and gonorrhea. I took the rest of the week off anyway and hung out with friends and family thankful that is was only a curable STD scare. I felt compelled to share with a few people before I had my result in hand that they may be at risk, the response I got was not at all what expected. Everyone was grateful and thankful for my honestly in this matter. I am also thankful for the amazing members of this community and the professionalism in how the situation was handled.
