I thought it might be interesting to find out why someone would not want to post here....I once had a provider friend who told me she did not post because she felt rejection  if  no one responded or she had only a few reads. another said  why put yourself  out there  as a possible target? Many just post their ads  weekly and when guys do respond I noticed some never even  respond back . I think if I were a guy and said something  nice and got nothing back I would think she was not interested enough  to see. I do understand there is a fine line of posting to often I learned that the hard way  back 5 yrs ago it seems if you try  some think your just marketing to hard  and  it can backfire on you,,,,so to both  the gentlemen and ladies  what reasons do you have for just being a lurker rather than a poster? and to those that do post any ideas  on how to get  those 45% out of the closet?

I would think that many don't post because of possible negative reaction. Have you read the general board lately? While that isn't usually the case here on the regional board I think there is a certain chilling effect bleeding over.  The only way I see getting more people to post is either suggesting a thicker skin or moderating the boards more effectively. That being said I'm sure I don't know the challenges the mods face here.

BTW I went to your website and your pics are nothing short of absolutely stunning! Hope to meet you someday.

I've written a few new topics and replies only to end up deleting them before posting because of one or more of the above reasons. Sometimes it can surprise me how well a post goes over.

The % of “Lurkers” (Members who do NOT respond on threads) is way above 45%, as evidenced by the number of responses you have received v/s “Reads.”

If I have nothing to add, I do NOT respond.

I am NOT certain what the biggest reason for “Non-response” is. Could it be that Hobbyists are shy? I guess the willingness to write Reviews would fly in the face of that possibility but they can respond anonymously.

I will bet even in a “Poll” or a “Contest” the response would be less than 50%.

Less than 50% of Registered Americans even vote in National Elections and how important and easy is voting?

An interesting question!

CD I was getting the 45%  from the TER poll which only 14,000  responded to  ....so yes you are correct it is  way to high .....

well 2late I guess its never too late ..... I liked your post  it was very honest. I think  most of us  have the same corncerns  ....mine has always been poor grammer and  spelling  but I just plug away ....I hope this might be a starting place now that you  have broken the ice .....I hope more might join you !

Your right  I was just going off the TER poll where over 14,000  took the poll  and 45% of them  said they never posted I would guess its more like 20%  just guessing .......the idea of a contest sounds interesting  to test the market  any ideas ?

I have periodically gotten caught up in the banter of the general discussion boards and have spent HOURS writing posts and then had no dates or appointments that resulted from that.

So, after a while, you focus your efforts on what does get you business rather than what drains your time and seems to be merely entertainment.

Now, I will admit, I didn't realize there was a regional board (okay, I was told, but I didn't fully understand the difference) until recently. I have been more active lately, and I got an appointment request PM'd to me! Woo-Hoo! This may motivate me to post more often, truly.

But I do think I will limit my "posting time" so I don't spend too much time in one day and feel like I am just spinning my wheels.

hey sexy A 69 I think you have to post  more for the sheer enjoyment of  than with the thought of what can I get back here....I post on another board  that is much smaller and not much  ever came from it although I did meet several nice clients over the yrs  if you just expect to have a good time be part of something then I think posting can  be fun entertainment, your right though to much of a good thing can become toxic

Or when I missed a text message to see if I was available because I was too busy reading and writing posts! lol

its a great way to connect with others.This is a way to stay in contact with those that you have met and cant see on a regular basis.

I just think some people abuse the discussion boards for personal attacks and to post personal issues that should stay between the parties involved.

Overall I think its a great place to be a part of if your a humble positive person you will have a great time .

Like the old saying ,"If you dont have anything nice to say ,dont say anything at all".
Some people need to adopt that habit on the boards but mabey its just who they are.

And it is nice to have someone you can talk about the hobby with! My teens think I'm winning a lot of money at the casino... lol

Your so right an I am sooo happy to see  that since I  have arrived there is no drama  ....and plus we now have several posters that I have never seen  before starting to peek their heads up and say hello ......

I'll post anytime I have an interest in the discussion. Usually I'll read the first couple posts of each new thread and decide to read/post or just move on. The idea of a "marketing" aspect is secondary to my original post. I don't do it to intentionally market unless the discussion is steering that way. Nor will I play into some of the nonsense discussions on the General Board with all their negativity and drama as well as aliases. Just not worth the time or mental energy.  There are a few boards on TER that I enjoy more than other and tend to post there more often.

I've posted threads just to have them removed because they 'don't apply' to the regional board. Mods have often told me I belong on the General Board, but I'm typically more interested in having general discussions with my 'local' community.
It feels as if the only posts welcome from providers are ads and I get sick of trying to come up with creative marketing gimmicks. I'd love to be able to participate in actual discussion and banter freely, but the 'vibe' of most boards as of late is that the ladies are better 'seen and not heard'. Ads with pics are great, but it seems that anything else has to qualify under specific conditions and parameters to be deemed appropriate discussion for the Phoenix board. As a result, things just kinda got boring, IMO.

I don't necessarily fear rejection, since I know I'm not for all markets. We all say stupid shit sometimes and every once in a while, it's a good 'ego check' to get called out by your peers. That's part of what makes it a tight-knit community.
I remember when the board was much more active and interactive. Before the days of the "bust that shan't be discussed' and the scandal of TER's 'Founding Father', this was like any other private Yahoo chat group or fantasy/erotic forum. People shared off-color jokes, personal stories, crass inquisitions and everyday mundane crap. It was one big, dysfunctional family.
Fear has prevailed and quieted the masses.
Nobody wants to get booted out of the 'cool kids club' or make the wrong political move and piss off someone in power, so it's just easier to stay quiet and complacent.
It's not until all the cool kids are standing on the corner looking at each other blankly that we realize that it's not as much fun as we thought it would be.
Without the free and open discussions, there's no real way to get to know each other... or at least our 'online personae'. There hasn't been much to keep me coming back lately. I got a new review recently and didn't even log in to read it. In fact, the first time I've logged into this site in ages was to reply to this post. So... kudos to you, Victoria, for initiating these discussions.

This board died. A slow painful death. Temp to revive it were met wit limited success.

It's clear the new mod (mods?) want are trying to get a little life back in the PHX board by asking for suggestions and unmoderating the women.

I feel like you do. I'd prefer to discuss general issue with my local peeps. There is a BIG difference between some areas making some topics/comments irrelevant to us here in PHX.

I am very glad to see Victoria pumping (pause on that for a moment... ok)enthusiasm into this board and to find all the lovely women such as yourself finally posting again.

I grow weary of the sausage-fests and female-bashing I read on some boards.

I may become more active on the boards again someday. I'm glad to see that there's still a little life in 'er yet.
I turned to blogging when I had something to get off of my chest, but I have to admit that I don't write as often as I like because blogs don't have that interactive factor to them. It's akin to shouting into a cave - only on occasion will I hear anything echo back.
I do enjoy the repartee between this community and miss some of the personalities that I only knew on the board and have never met in person. And I'm excited at the prospect of intelligent discussion. I've already logged in more this week than I had in the past three months. That's a good start.

I rarely get hot about provider by what she writes. Rule her out due to her attitude? Yeah, maybe. But not attracted.

Then there was you. Don't know what it is really. I just like your style. I get this vibe about you from everything you write. Has me puzzled, but I'm diggin it. What you write. Yes, your effing brain gets me hard.  Did so before I ever checked out your website. I'm completely serious.

It's too bad I didn't/won't tell you who I am when we were/are/will be together. But that doesn't matter. Just thought you should know.
