Have any providers had an HIV screening? With so many infected in the world, It is a little alarming to be a hobbyist right now. It would be nice to see some positive feedback on this post. Its been on my mind since I read an article on how many people actually have it. Play safe out there.

every thirty days
im my other business it,s an industry standard
it has to be done

is how many "hobbiests" get screened. Almost all the gals are very health aware. They need to be, HIV is really just one of a large number of nasty possibilities. That is one reason for the ongoing concern/hostility regarding efforts to coerce BBFS (happens to often). Obviously your risk will vary and is never non existant....but your alot more likely to get an STD (any STD) from a one night stand then from a working girl...

I would say you stand the biggest risk with girls that walk the street and especially those hooked on drugs.. The girls with heads on their shoulders get tested quite often and are very aware. I believe the angencies ask/require the girls to be tested often as well.
As Hacker mentions, they probably have more to fear of hobbiests than vice versa because not all hobbiests get tested regularly and there are some guys out there looking to coerce girls into bbfs.
My 3 cents,

I think most providers are very aware too. Hobbyist should be as equally aware. I get tested regularly even though I am always safe. You can get results in 20 minutes at Planned Parenthood.

The Maricopa County Dept. of Health Clinic, 1645 E Roosevelt (602) 506-1678 will perform 4 essential STD tests for $20.  Planned Parenthood charges more than 10 times that amount for the same tests.  HOWEVER, the county clinic is busy and sometimes hard to get into.  The advantage there is that you can get your testing done 100% confidentially...no notation in your medical record.  Be advised that some life insurance companies will refuse to insure anyone who has ever had an HIV test (apparently based on the argument that "you don't get tested if you aren't at risk.")  Because of that, you should avoid having your primary care physician order or receive the results of your STD testing.

and quit the profession?  It would be reassuring to know that this actually happens.

I think what you are saying is that it would be reassuring to know that if anybody determined they have been infected with HIV - that they would leave the hobby. Ladies and Gents alike.

and they got immediate testing at the County Clinic.  I've never heard of one working despite a diagnosis or even a suspicion.

Apparently, ladies, if you go to the County Clinic, and during the interview you honestly answer the question, "How many partners have you had in the past year?", you are placed at the front of the line and your results are processed STAT (unlike the general public, which has to wait a few days.) The staff there is non-judgmental, discreet, and simply interested in avoiding the spread of disease.

even if they said they did get tested maybe they didn't, you never really know unless you see their test results.  Best to play it safe.  I see mainly Asians who play it safe, that is the safest group, only a few thousand asian females infected since the start of AIDS I believe, Blacks have the higher numbers, TS- well those people must be crazy I think; wear trojan condoms if possible, durex and thinner types tend to break more, watch those spinner moves.  just my 2 cents

Most of the ladies I have talked to  go very regularly  and many  go monthly. I have no clue about the gents.  I don't go into high risk things and  still I get tested  every 1-3 months.  There can be no compromise on safety.

Although safe sex is practiced, I am tested every 30 days as well. It is a must. OF COURSE if I tested positive for AIDS I would have no choice but to leave the profession. I think the hardest thing in the world would be to try to let my clients know I had an STD, I mean, that I possibly would have infested them... how horrible. (Although someone would have had to infect ME as well, I just can't begin to imagine how awful I would feel if I ever passed it on.)
Another thing that I am tested for is hepatis. The importance of this rates just as high and all of us ought to be tested regularly.

yes hepatis B and C can cause you to lose your liver,  There are vaccines against hepatis A and B (but not C).  I suggest people get these shots.

I'm happy to see this post and that it was taken seriously.  I once asked a provider if she had a cold sore on her lip and she freaked out and tossed me out of the room. I would think if she thought I had a sore on my privates or lip, she would ask about it.
