We all know that Cox rules the land (the cable company that is).

What other providers do the providers (and those who love them) use in the Phoenix area?

Cox is raising rates on cable and internet, and I want out.

Quest seems to have a pretty good deal going on with TV and internet....I'm in the process of checking it out now...anyone have coments on Quest????

My neighbor has Qwest and used to have problems with it. Disconnections etc. I used to have satellite and when it was rainy or windy outside it didn't work at all, and during business it was much slower, since so many businesses use satellite too. Personally I will never go back to satellite.

I don't really know any service provider that's as reliable as Cox unfortunately.

How much are they raising their prices? I never bother to open the cox statements...lol.

I went to satellite a year ago and love it - especially with DTV.  I've never had the reported rain/snow problems - course that doesn't happen much here.  I've had Quest issues if you live in an apartment or condo - they constantly screw up in their closets.  Bottom line - I don't miss Cox digital.  Their Internet and phone service are fine.

Do you know if you can get Verizon Fios out there?  I have it at home and I love it!  I have it for my TV (Verizon TV)and my computer and I have Vonage for my phone service.  I couldn't be happier.  See if it is available out there.

they have a package perfect for vpn (3m down 1.5m up)however for raw speed down cox is the best.

I have been happy with Qwest for phones and Cable One for high speed internet.  I'm in a relative remote area of NAZ but no interruptions and pricing I can live with.

Anna, it's good to see that you do not have a fear of cox

Fortunately I'm lucky enough that my company pays for highspeed internet.  Cox has been good for me, I've had them for a few years with very few problems.

Prior to that I used Sprint Broadband Direct, where they provide you with a dish that they put on your house that points to I believe South Mountain.  The connections were fine, not as fast as I wanted at the time, but it was okay.  They upgraded their technology I believe and are now taking new clients, check it out at http://www.sprintbroadband.com/ if interested.

I also used CableAmerica, I think they were bought out.  Problem I had with them was support left at 5pm on Friday and were gone all weekend, when their service haulted over the weekend I was hosed.

Here is a FAQ article on DSL vs. Cable - http://www.dslreports.com/faq/129 this may help.  Basically all in all it says that DSL has a more stable up and down connection, meaning you don't have to worry too much about your upload and download speeds being a bit sporadic, which I notice a little bit sometimes with cable, but not much.  

I have had nothing but bad experiences with Qwest or Qworst as I like to call them, and I would never, ever go back to them.  I got my phone, cable and internet with Cox.  I tried Dish network and they were a nightmare as well.

Hopefully more cable companies like Comcast and Time-Warner will be available in the Valley to keep costs competitive...who knows.
