This thread got me to post (I am mostly a lurker on the board) but as a former Mesa police officer I can tell you two things. All the allegations that were reported in the media and the paper were true but they took place way back in early January so this relatively old news.
Second, MPD usually does not aggressively pursue clients/providers unless there is a pre-cursor crime involved (assault, drugs, fraud, etc). I am not talking about street providers...those are pursued very aggressively. And from what I have heard, you did not hear about this sooner cause MPD really did not want it to be known so they waited as long as possible to release the information. MPD is known to have had way to many sex scandals and they are rather touchy about the whole situation.
a woman named Joanne. Don't know if that was her stage name or her real name. But according to reports he told her to set up shop in Mesa so that she would not be bothered. So does anyone know who this is??
Is there an actual "link" between the bad-cop and the provider? Has this been actually "established" (as was reported in the original breaking story). The quote below makes me want to believe that this is as simple as a rebuffed cop with a grudge against a female cop and he perhaps created a fake ad that used the female cop's phone number.
"The investigation began after a female police officer in Mesa received calls starting Jan. 1 on her personal cellphone from customers trying to reach an escort named "Alex." She received about 25 such calls from customers using a number listed on a Craigslist online escort ad.
The officer, who worked with Beaulieu years ago, told investigators he had asked her out in the past but she said no."
