Have you ever heard a song for the first time and knew, just really knew, that it would be one of your favorite songs forever?

That happened to me a few days ago - the music, the melody, the instruments, including the voices in the chorus, caught me right away. I had to restart the song halfway through, listen to the lyrics, and I knew this would be a favorite, a very favorite.

It makes me move and moves me, this song, makes me want to pull the car over, close my eyes and cry and laugh and scream at the insanity this time of year brings. The lyrics tickle my brain and pull at my heart. The voices, the instruments, capture me and hold me prisoner, force me to listen...

Over and over this song plays in my headphones, over my car speakers, over my stereo speakers, filling my house with discordance and sweet melody and energy. Harmonics resonate in my body, making me move. Bits and pieces of my past flash before my closed eyes.

The song ends, for the fourteenth time this morning, and I’m drained, emotionally drained. Yet, I play it again. And again.
