Any tips for feeling out undercovers or fakes? I do know a few things I've read about, but I am a bit nervous.

Avoid backpage ads.
See only well-established well-reviewed providers.
Make your first date lunch only.  Some providers will offer a reduced rate for lunch only, provided it is close to their location.  You can see how you hit it off and LE is unlikely to waste their time on such an endeavor.
Avoid discussing any private activities during lunch.
Review the Newbie board.

Check on this board for reviews. Get yourself verified on P411 or Datecheck, they have lists of verified ladies. If a bunch of reviews look good, then just jump in with both feet and go for it. The first is the most nerve wracking, after that it's like a kid in a candy store. There are tons of great providers out there. Oh, stay the fuck away from Backpage. Happy hunting!

Stay away from BP and only see providers who have several references.  Look at the reviewers and make sure they have been around a while and written several reviews.  Beware providers with one glowing review written by a hobbyist who has written no other reviews.  Once you narrow down the results look at the services offered.  Select a provider whowho offers the services important to you.  If DFK is important to you cross off the providers who don't offer it.  Get verified by a service like Date-Check or P411 as it will make it much easier, especially in the beginning, to get that first appointment.  E-mail the provider you are interested in and let her know you are new to the hobby and nervous.  Don't say anything  explicit but see how personable she is and if you feel comfortable with her. If it is all good make the appointment.  Be freshly showered, groomed, dress nice, be respectful, and have fun.  There are plenty of great providers here in  Phoenix so you should have no problem finding a wonderful lady who is the right match for you.

Of course there are other ways to start searching, and many great providers don't have 20 reviews to qualify for the list, but this is as good a place as any to start your search.

I've managed to meet up with two women so far and both were wonderful, had a lot of reviews, and gave me a good feeling. However, I saw two posts for very hot women, one of which was very affordable (though was a one-shot-only kind of gal). She actually cancelled on me while I was on my way there, gave me a kind of odd reason, and then hasn't gotten back to me. Since she was the one making me nervous (she only had a few reviews, all very recent), I feel a bit of relief.
I did read the Newb FAQs and some Guides, but I also wanted to hear what other hobbyists had to say
