I too have a son deployed, and being a dad that saw action in 'nam it's hard on all of us. you and your sons will be in my prayers as is everyone that in in "our" position. Until I see you again this fall, take care, stay sweet, ignore the jerks, and god will look out for us.

When my oldest Marine son deployed to Iraq as  part of the invading team, I was devastated. A little relief came when he was home safe 7 months later, but I knew my younger son was waiting to be old enough to be a Marine. Yes he became a Marine and was deployed to Iraq. I was again devastated.

Now my older son is again being deployed to Iraq. I haven't the strength to respond to you Tetley, only to the ones who came to my defense. In this time of need, your words are truly taken to heart. Thank you! Diana

Your sons will be in my thoughts and prayers, Diana....I know that feeling all to well as my father and brother went to war!

Just the other day going through some things in the attic at my late mom's house I found some reel to reel tapes of my father to the family and the family to him all dated in the early 60's! Wow what a find I will try and have these put on CD's so I can hear my mom and dad voices again!

PS: I also found a letter my mom wrote to my dad dated June 15, 1967....his last of 3 tours of duty!

Diana, thankfully you know as well as I do, we have some wonderful caring gents in our lives that this one is so insignifiant and not worth responding to!

God bless  your Sons!May he keep them safe!

hugs
Terri

and for that we cannot express our gratitude enough for their service.  Yes it has to be hard but you also must be proud that they are willing to serve and protect.

Don't let one man's words get you down.  It's only one guy.  Just look at the support you got.

My prayers are with you and your sons.  May they return home soon.

We are all here for you.

Misty

I often wonder.  What if it were MY children?  I DREAD that often.  I confess that I have envisioned duct taping my children and throwing them in a car trunk and moving them away from any inclination to serve in the military. Nobody wants their baby to go out and risk their life!

Life is precious to us. I only wish that everyone felt that way. I fear that if we are not making a constant effort to eradicate Al Queda (and all other homicidal maniacs), that we will face more attacks on our soil.

I send many thanks to our troops and your son's for their service to our country. There was a friend of mine who was an elite and career military man who told me:  "There are many of us fighting this war who WANT to fight this war and we feel right doing so."  That does not reflect the opinion of a soldier that never wanted to be there in the first place.

Anyway, I send my love to you and your loved ones.  I will keep you guys in my thoughts and my prayers.

S.

Kudos and thanks to your sons.  A whole new generation of veterans is building up now and whether we agree with the war or not, they are a credit to you and our country.

The strength of this great country comes from the young men and women who walk the line. Their fortitude, compassion and willingness to do so for us is NEVER to be forgotten nor taken for granted. I for one salute you and your wonderful sons, all of whom are now in my prayers.

that the United States Marines are the finest group of men and women I've ever had the pleasure to deal with.  I know that you can't rest well until both of your sons are home safe, but I hope you can find it in your heart to appreciate the dedication each has demonstrated and the great pride all of us feel that they are willing to give everything so that the world might be safer.

Diana,
My son was a marine in the first Gulf War. I know the anxiety that you feel every day and night. I will keep you and your sons in my prayers until they are home again in your loving embrace.

Thank you all for your support. I am usually not one to make my private life public but sometimes, it is overwhelming. Having two sons in the military makes it twice as hard!

I certainly know what it feels like to go to war. I cannot even imagine how it would feel to have a child in harm's way like that, but I support his bravery and comradeship. I will be saying some prayers, my dear.

I very rarly look at this part of TER but had some time today...My first post on this board cause it hit home for me. I do understand that daily feeling when they are in country, the mood swings and odd little things that will set off a tear. I know the feeling when days pass beyond when you should have gotten that call. How news and radio casts of our servicemen in harms way can ruin the day. And how just seeing another man in uniform will make your heart ache.

My son just got back from his 2nd thank god. He will be soon going back again because of the need for his Army skills. He is in the same unit I served with and doing the same job...he is so much better than I.

I know that Army and Marines do not normally see things the same...except during service. You are of course proud and I wish blessings for both of your sons and all of our men and women who serve for us all with great honor.

I am so sorry to hear. My SO has a son over there and I cannot even begin to imagine how a mother must feel. You have my support such as it is. If you need a shoulder, I am having brain surgery the 27th and won't be busy after for quite awhile. I will be sleeping a lot but I would never ever mind if you called me.

I mean that 100% or I would not post it.

In April we are going on the "Hearts to heros" ride to support the troops over there. They take donations of items for the troops and ship them over there. If anyone has interest in the ride or donating items (I have a list of needed items), please let me know.

XoXo,
Cheyenna
