any provider has a email list on their computer or a list of first names or full names and phone numbers in their phone.  they are arrested and their phone and computer are seized.

reviews are found of them on this site from many varied hobbyist.  the site receives a supobena for records of those hobbyist.  they then do the same with the site's credit card processor.  information derived from that information leads to those that posted reviews.

that then matches the email addresses or the phone numbers found in the providers phone.  that seems to me to be as good a paper trail as that describe by you above.

my point is in this town no one is safe because of what has happened.  i repeat once again this is not a indie vs agency thing cause there are no more agencies.  it is a fact of life.  as far as it being private the writing of a review changes that privacy issue.

just my take on this situation.

I've seen a few remarks about client list and those that do and don't keep them.  I knew agencies did, no matter how big their talk was, but I use to take a Indy for their word on such an issue.  As of late I'm having second thoughts on the latter.  You see lately I have recieved several emails & texts from providers I had seen in the past offering specials, possibly due to the weak ecomomy, but with each email a previous email I sent to the provider, ranging as far back as Nov. 2008, was included.  Isn't keeping old emails or #'s from past clients in your phone the same having a client list?

In the end, when considering client lists you are either going to get an honest "yes", or a dishonest "yes" when you ask a provider about keeping records.   But how can you tell which one is which?  I say just assume the worst?

None of them ever admit they keep client information but how else would they be able to give references ?

of course all independents keep references regardless of what they say.  as pointed out they reference people every day.

don't be naive to think they don't.

I make my friends give me nicknames.  There will never be a doubt in my mind who Goose and Crash are... though if you call me and tell me that you are John, or a reference wants to ask me about John - we will have a problem.

There are other ways.

I keep no records at all and tell ladies If it has been over a year I cannot reference for I dont remember! Little bits of information help me remember but once you leave my presence   Its all in my head, for I use the good old noggen method! :)
   I do have a good memory and I know of other ladies who are the same! Please dont throw us  independents in the same bin as agencies!

ms foxy kay while I have never met you please excuse me if I just don't believe you.  I would suspect you have email address's of some of your clients and as many independents do names and numbers saved in your phone.

this is not a agency or independent comparison at all.  just a statement of beliefs and facts.
