The fact that this type of crap is being entertained in a court house proves all bad things (do you miss Vioxx?)in the world are directly or indirectly linked to lawyers.

Apparently our federal courts may have the answer for you!  According to this news story, that Video Professor fellow is suing the anonymous posters of negative reviews.  He's named them "John/Jane Does 1-100", and he's actually talked a federal judge into allowing him to subpoena the records of the review sites where these comments were posted, to get their real identity information.  Presumably, once he has that, he'll be able to go after them under a number of different theories, depending on whether or not they're actually a competitor posing as a consumer, or under other business-damages principles if they're just pissed off consumers who perhaps exaggerated or embellished their description of his practices.

If it could happen with those reviews, why couldn't the same happen here?

It is bad enough when providers post fake good reviews on themselves but posting bad reviews on other ladies is fuckin pathologic. Enticing a gent to write a  fake bad review is no less reprehensible. Gents, don't be fooled. The sign clearly said "Keep Off the Grassy Knoll"
Ladies trust to your skill and do your job well.  Guys be honest but gentle in your reviews. A person is hiding in those thigh highs.

TER is here to help find fun fictitious female  frolicking. Use the reviews to make the system work.

You have too much time on your hands.

The article is stating something to the degree of false advertising claims followed with a statement "Folks have routinely complained".

Providers get fake reviews, good and bad alike.  Should a provider sue another provider if she feels a fellow competitor is constantly getting 9's and 10's across the board and is suspicious of those reviews because she feels it may be hurting her business?  I wonder about a specific provider who constantly receives 9's and 10's from hobbyists who have for the most part never posted before.

I don't write reviews but have had two different providers ask me to leave them stellar reviews in exchange for discounted rates on the next meeting.  My reply is of course, I don't leave reviews.  However, does that situation take place? Yes.  Does it hurt fellow competiting providers business?  Not if all of them are making the same offer.

As the article says, there will be a very long legal process to determine if the web sites where the complaints are posted have to provide the information. The free speech protections in the US constitution are what allow us in the USA to access and post on many controversial web sites.

While there has been some loss of privacy related to posts related to terrorism, my impression is that criminal and civil cases not related to terrorism cannot violate the privacy protections that have long been in force.

He may also have problems in that there is a record of accusations of poor business practices in dealing with the people as reported by the Better Business Bureau, again mentiooned in the article. The opposing side could argue that he is trying to suppress information about those past reports and complaints with his lawsuits - a kind of intimidation.

It will be interesting to see what happens. In my view consumers who do not read the fine print, then feel that they were ripped off, and then complain about it, have themselves to blame - and yet they do have a right to complain, so others learn to READ THE FINE PRINT!
