If you're using g mail you should know there is a new feature called google "buzz"  It tracks all your emails. You can opt out of "buzz" by scrolling to the bottom of the email screen and turning it off.

but i'm not sure that it tracks your emails ??

i was under the impression that it was google's version of a social network comparable to facebook or twitter but i have to admit, i didn't look into it too much before i decided to opt out.

If only it were that easy.  Turning Buzz "off" really only turns it down.  Buzz is an automatic opt-in feature which means if you don't want it you have to disable it manually.  And they enabled A LOT of things.  Far too many things IMHO.  But whatever.  You get what you pay for.

Buzz is connected to your Google profile as well as several, if not all, of your other Google products.  Notably Google Reader (another feature that puts the contents of your address book on public display).  The "turn buzz off" (very bottom of your gmail inbox page) is sort of a misnomer.  In order to completely turn everything off you have to opt out of the features that Google turned on for you.

Before you click the "turn buzz off" link, go into your Buzz account and set your Google profile and Reader and anything else they got their grubby little paws on to private.

They didn't make the opt-out features very user-friendly.  Nor are they saying very much about the public backlash against their invasive ways.
Here are two helpful links that explain a little more about telling Buzz to go FUzzzz itself.
