PC, I hear what you are saying and I have no problem with a door fee or raffle, although I don't feel like being taken to task for not anteing up 1/6 of the cost of an escort to help pay for the M&G. Ultimately ,this is a marketing event for the indies as well as any agency that was there. Asking me to pay for that would be like me asking my employees to pay for my advertising budget. I do and always will offer my gratitude for anyone who steps to the plate to organize these functions.I will also offer my time with planning the next M&G. Please accept these comments as coming from a businessman who has just another perspective on this issue.

After last night's successful TER August Meet and Greet The Party Director announced his retirement as The Party Director................

Flanked by Mayor Modprod and members of The Poon Valley City Council and several of Poon Valley's Ladies The Party Director had this to say....

"For the last two and one half years I have had the good fortune to take the lead and help provide a safe and fun atomosphere for the Poon Valley Residents to meet, drink, eat and get to know each other and find out how wonderful this community really is...

The stress of this last event has led me to the conclusion that it is time to hang up the "Party Shoes" and let someone else take the lead in the co-ordinating of these events......

To those that have helped put these together, and there have been many, thank you for your past support......"

The Party Director went on to say that the time involved in securing a "safe location", hiring security, and clearing Hobbyist and Providers to be on a invite list was just too consuming...

He further stated to those that did not agree with the decisions made about these events or how they were handled...now is your chance to step up, take the lead, put yourself on the line for insuring everyone's safety and make the future events better than ever......

At the conclusion of his statement he was seen enjoying many Jack Daniels which he did this night and molesting Amanda Blake on a bar stool in the corner.....

Mayor Modprod issued a statement saying The Party Director will be missed and thanked him for the work he had done in the past on behalf of Poon Valley and its entire Hobbying Community.....

Applications to fill the position are available at Poon Valley City Hall........

And by now most of Poon Valley knows that the Party Director was none other than Jack from Mystique USA.....

It was a night to remember................

All the news that isn't news brought to you by..

A critical comment, not of the Party Director but of our community.

I don't think people realize how much is involved in planning these events. Securing a location is more than simply calling around. Providing security is more than asking a big guy to stand at the door. The time it takes to plan just doesn't mean longer days or nights - it also means other matters that need attention go left unattended.

To chide or pick at an event planner's decisions is childish and just plain wrong.

I've had the pleasure of being invited to these general events and to some private functions. Personally, I have at times been somewhat dissapointed with my fellow hobbiests.

We willing drop $$$ or more for an hour, but balk at contributing 1/6th or less of that to help an event planner offset costs.

So, my fellow hobbiests -  the next time there is an event being planned; although we may not be willing/capable to plan it ourselves - we can help by offering our time or money. Don't balk at a door fee.

Remember, if the people that plan these events lose interest, well, we could become San Diego!

Good post. Thank you.

I'm glad you do not object to some sort of renumeration for entry. Wether it be a raffle or a door fee. Some (not all) feel differently. Obviously, my post was to prompt people to think. It seems to have worked on at least one person.

I do agree that these events (the public ones at least) are marketing oppurtunities for the providers. Quite honestly, I'm not sure how I feel about "charging" providers for entry. Take this most recent M&G. Organized by an agency owner - but open to all providers. How would an equitable fee distribution occur?

But, I primarily look at these events, and some sort renumeration, as a call or put option.

I've been to the public events and wanted to talk with providers that had excellent reviews and excellent backchannel info. I did talk with her and realized she may have stellar service and great looks - she was dumber than a doorknob.

Scratch off of my to do list she went.

The converse has happened as well. The back channel was that a provider wasn't all that sharp. I talked with her and found her to be engaging and intellectually stimulating (at my age, all senses need to be stimulated, LOL).

On to the to do list she went.

So, I feel that I saved money (overall) and increased the probability of having a quality experience.

The real shame are the people that don't attend these events. They miss informal oppurtunities to get to know and assess a ladies suitability. The good providers "remember" the guy and the first minutes of an appointment can be spent in a little more comfortable manner. Yes, even at my age - I get nervous with each new experience!

Again, thanks for taking the time to post.
