The Petulant Pooner (blogger) has written soem pretty interesting posts about a pattern that he has noticed.  I know thatt many of us have no love lost for sites like Craigslist, but the 'Pooner seems to have caught-on to a trend of traditional media outlets such as newspapers writing these sudden "Oh my God!" stories about internet prostitution, and in particular, Craigslist.

Why is this significant?  Because these same newspapers used to make a LOT of money charging you girls money to advertise in the classifieds section of their papers.  They knew how pupular these ads wwere, and they'd even have the audacity to charge premiums for these kinds of ads over ads such as garage sales and help-wanted ads.  They made a LOT of money charging escorts to publish their availability and phone numbers.

Money that has simply been taken away by free sites such as Craigslist.  C'mon folks.  CL is nothing new.  It's been around for years. You newspaper publishers have known about it for a long time.  And now you write inflammatory stories, "breaking" the news that prostitution is happening right under all of our noses.  Little do they mention that before widespread internet access was available, no one profited more from the local prostitution scenes than...Guess who?:  You local news media.

The 'Pooner is from Seattle and has a pretty good blog.

What, You expected something different from the mainstream drive by media? There all run by far left wing loons. I stopped taking the paper in 1988.

Is Pepe suggesting that the right wing approves of this hobby?  I highly doubt that.  Enough said - any continuation of this belongs in the political board.

Thanks for posts on the current events.

Yes Ana, and there was a time when that was pretty much the best opportunity for a girl to promoter herself.

One thing I am certain of, is if the Republic (and other print publishers) could re-coup the ad revenue that was once theirs, they 'dquickly kill the coverage of busts involving girls who touted themselves within their own pages.  It's very easy for them to help chuck stones at Craigslist, and perhaps unethical for them to not disclose to their own readers that they also happen to sell the exact same ads (for a much higher price).
