I'm sure I'm going to take some heat on this since I rarely post and it's somewhat of a negative comment, but I finally am fed up and have to say something.

Does anyone else here notice that the scores given on reviews (i.e. looks, body type etc.) are vastly overrated a high percentage of the time? I mean, I understand that each of us has our personal preferences and beautiful to one may not be beautiful to another, but geez..... can we please stop going to see Whoopi Goldberg and reporting that she looks like Halle Berry?

Look, I understand that nobody wants to hurt anyones feelings, but does anyone else find this frustrating?

... makes the ratings unreliable to me and I would guess that the low volume of comments on the board, at least partially, related to this issue.

My thermometer is, would I turn around and check her out at the mall?  If not, no way she is an 8, right?

If someone rates every lady a 9 or a 10, check to see if you'd rate them the same, or if they would be 7 and 8 for you.

Works the other way too....

Some reviewers don't give 9 and 10 scores, but you would based on your preferences....

As long as the photos are current, you are making your choice based on your ratings, not those of someone else.

I wish the rating scale went to 20, as I've now seen enough ladies to say that some of my 8 appearance scores really rate 7.5 and some are 8.5.

I look at who the reviewer has seen, If he has seen someone that I know I would NEVER bother with and gives a 9-10  I blow off his credibility. Now and then you get providers complaining on here that a person did not rate them high enough..........they were always use to 8-10s and this guy happens along and grades with HIS opinion which is less and I have watched the provider cry & whine until  that review is taken down.........go figure.

if you got less than what you expected,  did you post a review stating that you were disappointed ?


i understand your frustration and i think its valid however, we all really only have rule over ourselves.

perhaps if you added your more "realistic" scores, other guys would follow your lead.

Couldn't agree more. Some of the 10's that are given for looks are head scratching. Seriously.

I really don't care what another hobbyist thinks of a ladies looks. As long as the pictures are accurate. And sometimes hobbyist will complain that the pictures are not accurate and I would be reluctant to see a lady if that was case. However, if the escort floats my boat I'm gonna go see the lady. And as far as performance scores, you have to be a VIP and read the juicy details.
There are some hobbyist who I respect. We've seen the same ladies and have scored them similar. I usually trust their opinion. BTW, I find it interesting your complaining about review rating inflation, but have not written any reviews.

Numbers are just numbers. I've got two eyes and can read. To my surprise I've found most reviews accurate and appreciate the extra effort reviewers make. BTW if anyone gives a RA reviews are something I'll prob never do.
But you know to some maybe Whoopi is a 10. LOL

I always minus on average 1 to 3 points depending on the reviewer and my own opinion of the photos.
Sometimes I look at them and say WTF!
I can only buy the "eye of the beholder" to a certain degree.
Get used to it is all I can suggest. In the end all that counts is YOUR review and experience.    

You could surmise that I am generous with my appearance scores and that may be true. But I also do a lot of research before I see a new provider and I tend to stick to backpage ads that have candid or non pro type pictures where I can get a good sense of her face and body type. I've had some unpleasant surprises at the meet (Trixie) but for the most part they have been what I was expecting or better.
It's a rather subjective rating so like what has already been said, drill down on some of the reviewers to get an idea of how they score, and it's a big plus if you can compare ladies that both of you have seen.

The displayed ratings should be averaged out, so that a provider doesn't know who "dinged" her, and remaining in someone's good books doesn't become the determining factor in giving ratings.

Goatee, you have not posted a single review.  Not once.  Obviously, since you're complaining, you have seen some ladies that you COULD have reviewed (to correct the false impression that you think others created).  But you didn't.  

Those of us who do write reviews put some effort into it, and we put ourselves out there.  We take some risk.  Sure, we don't always get it right.  Heck, its all opinion -- that's all.  And who agrees about opinions on looks?  You get 3 guys together in a bar and woman walks in, they all look at her, and immediately there will be THREE different opinions on how good she looks.  Every time.

So, before you complain about other guys 'getting it wrong', maybe you should step up to the plate yourself.

Spamdog - acutually I did used to post reviews but stopped (back in the Sedona days) - my personal preference. There's two ways to use this site, both should be acceptable. You can either review and attain your membership that way or pay your money and lay low. I choose to pay - again, personal preference.

What I posted was meant to invoke some thought among members, that's all.

I don't have a problem with appearance reviews. I'm usually right on or within 1 point of the general consensus of the previous reviewers. Must be a selection bias.
I like the OPs analogy of Whoopi to Halle, tho. Kinda makes you wonder sometimes.

OK, maybe we've busted goatee's chops enough...  

But despite his lack of 'curability' (sorry, 85003, couldn't resist), he does raise a valid point.  Sometimes it seems that the looks ratings are inflated.  

I see 2 main reasons for this:

1) The girl's got talent!  
This is the big one, I think.  Several times I have walked in the room, thinking that this girl is a GND, kind of pretty, but no great beauty.  And then she completely rocks my world, and by the time I walk out the door on wobbly legs, she looks like a frickin' demi-goddess to me.

So, on those occasions I tend to 'round it up'.  If the girl was a 7/8, I'll put down 8.  (But not 9, I try to restrain myself.  Maybe not everyone can do that...)  Conversely, if the girl was mediocre BCD, I'll round it down...


2) Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
I'm not that attracted to big, busty blondes.  I prefer svelte, dark-skinned brunettes.  Maybe you're the opposite.  So, you'd give the former a higher score than me, and lower for the latter. If the guys the girl saw before happened to think she was their ideal, her looks score might seem 'inflated' to you.  


Of course, these factors don't explain the "Whoa, WTF!" experience when the reviews prepared you for a 9, and what is before you is clearly a 5/6.  But this almost never happens, assuming that the girl had MANY reviews from established reviewers.  If she only had 1 or 2, and you don't know who those reviewers were, then maybe they're shills.  It happens.  But I have never experienced a time when the girl was WAY below what I expected based on many independent, reputable reviewers.  (Unless she returned to the business after a break of a few years -- that happened to me once...)

What about the rest of you -- who has experienced that goatee is complaining about?

OK, goatee, message received.  You expected to get some heat.  I think the response you got indicates that you deserved to get some heat.  I know where you're coming from -- when I first joined TER years ago, I was more of a paying lurker and did not post any reviews.  Took me some time to get over the hump and step up.  So, if you want to do that, its fine.  But paying TER doesn't give you right to complain to US.  What you did was no better than an armchair quarterback complaining about how the 'guys on the field' are screwing up.  (I find those guys REALLY annoying...)

But maybe we've beat up on you enough by now.  I guess our message is received now, and we can move on, so I posted a real response below to the question you originally raised.  

We can let bygones be bygones now, I hope.
