So a female friend of mine is considering implants...although she's only 26, after 2 kids, and a failed marriage, she is having serious self esteem issues and feels this will help. However, she is worried about the safety and longevity of the implants. Anyone have any input or advice on this that I can pass on? From what I found on the net, it seems that many implants carry a lifetime warrenty, and the manufacturer may even pick up the surgical fees for 5-10 years should something happen. If anyone has knowledge about this, or first hand experience, I'd appreciate the help (and my friend will too!).
I would only consider implants as a last resort due to surgery or breast cancer. Then, you would want to ensure that the implant size (it is measured in cc's) does not exceed the skin's elasticity (this is where many women make a HUGE mistake).
I have lost count on the number of women that I have seen at clubs, the beach and once or twice in person with implants. And, I can count on one hand, minus my thumb, the number of good "boob jobs" out there.
Implants very seldom have any natural movement and can be quite hard to the touch. On more than one occasion, after getting a hug from the lady, my chest was actually sore for a little while.
Then, there's the cost, which varies greatly. They start at about $3,000.00, but a good job will cost about $6,000.00 and a great job will cost $10K, or more. Since this is cosmetic, insurance usually won't pay for it.
In addition, there have been many law suits against both the manufacturer (due to leakage, back when silicone was being used) and the doctor's (scaring, wrong size, etc.).
