Phoenix Police arrested 454 Johns during the 14th National John Suppression Initiative July 2017
Phoenix led the nation with John arrests followed by Harris County TX 170 arrests, Cook Cty Ill. 137 and Houston Police 88. Well over 1000 arrests in 37 states Detectives worked from June 28 to July 31 by placing online advertisements to target sex trafficking - no indication any real "trafficking" in Phoenix but this is the fund raising excuse for the multimillion dollar war on consenting adults and the "victim industry" now targeting mostly customers. “We are trying to eliminate the demand with these stings,” McLennan County Sheriff xxx said. “It is kind of like the drug business, because as long as you have people on drugs, wanting it and paying for it, we are going to have drug dealers. We are trying to diminish this demand, but whether or not we will stop it, that may be impossible. If we can diminish the demand, it will cut down on (mostly fantasy) human trafficking.” As the dishonest propaganda insists, all sex work is "violence against women which is similar to sexual assault" (female detective quote.) Nation wide over 1000 arrest resulted in 15 sex trafficking charges, 75 adult "victims" and six juvenile victims were recovered. Dave notes sometimes sex trafficking is when a boyfriend or husband helps the gal by helping in appointment settings, driving etc. Agencies issued more than $1.5 million in fines. This is a great money maker plus separate grants often to go PD from the $millions donated to anti-sex tax exempt organizations. I have reviewed some of their 990 tax exempt organization filings. Authorities added that nearly 500 prospective sex buyers were deterred by texts, calls and webpage re-directs to inform buyers of the illegal sex industry's harmful impact. Too bad we don't follow the harm reduction model in most of Canada devoting these resource to go after the rare real victim and coerced traffickers and not in private consenting adults. Zillions of large escort agencies in most of Canada provide safety, work with police if any bad clients or suspect any exploitation which customers can safely report. The Cook Cty Sheriff which has for years led these national stings says:

The national total of john arrests is 1020 which seems to be arrests not deterred.
I have noted in 2017 a decline in prostitution arrests in Phoenix. As I have reported this may be due to the new police chief and shortage of patrol officers. Maybe doing more for real crime vs. the fake customers are all abusing all the "pretend victims.
Further, a HUGE amount of taxpayer dollars have been wasted in the zillions of felony cases in Maricopa Cty Superior Court. I have reported on many of them in the legal section here and many are still ongoing and will update soon. Most can not afford attorneys and are using the office of public defense. Most of the cases take over a year in court time. Probably 100 gals have taken plea deals for felonies but probation instead of facing many years in prison. All the cases that went to trial (about 5 in the last few years) have resulted in long prison sentences. All in private consenting adults.
I may go to SF to attend the oral argument in October for the 9th Circuit challenge to the prostitution law. I have reported many details and the briefs are the best I have ever seen in sex work cases. But the odds are still long and the enemy that argues that all sexwork is abuse of women have also filed many counter briefs.

Just like his irresponsible head line about 454. If you read further (wish I had not read at all) there were not 454 actual incidents.
