I just found out today that Sahara Jewel lost her battle with leukemia a couple of weeks ago - May 27th I believe.  She posted here last on March 15th explaining her current situation.

During our personal communications she shared many of her thoughts with me.  She truly believed she was going to win her battle... in her words:

"I am doing pretty well now, lots of pain but that's typical I guess with my type of leukemia. Not much can be done about it. But hey, I'm strong, so I am going to make it through this ok!"

Her memorial was last weekend.  I just found out myself today but a post was made on another board that I am not a member so I didn't find out until now. And sadly no one from that board shared the information here so I am doing so now.

I did wonder why I hadn't heard back from her in a few weeks since we had been in communication.

She is no longer in pain & suffering. So please today. take a moment to think about her and give this angel her wings.  She had fought her battle with her weight and won it by losing 250 lbs just to have to fight this one with leukemia and lose it.

Sahara Jewel .... you will always be a jewel in this Phoenix desert.  

thank you Misty for posting this. I didn't know her but from reading her posts she seemed to be very nice and considerate to others especially to other ladies always giving a compliment.

I am very sadden to hear this and I will say a prayer for her and her family I know it's tough for them.

I saw this info posted on some other boards and was sadden to hear of her lost to her battle with leukemia.

I didn’t know her but have seen her post and they were always inspiriting.

So sad she was so young.

Does anyone know if she had any family and if they need any kind of help?

Very sad indeed.  I did have the opportunity to meet her, and can say that she was a very nice and sincere person.  She will be missed.

I wondered why I hadn't heard from her in awhile. I thought she was getting better and just busy, like the rest of us. I'm so sorry tohear this news. She and I shared some nice conversations and I will remember her.

I wondered why nothing was put here and I am sorry. I should have posted but I thought the original poster that put it on the other board was going to, only to learn  that she is no longer a member here! I was not aware of that until Misty told me, on the day we were talking and Sahara came up in conversation and I told her about Sahara passing away.

I agree that she is no longer in pain and battling all the adversities she faced. Sometimes I think that has to be a blessing for the person who is freed of that, but of course not for the family and friends left behind to cope with the loss.  

Yes, she has family. I do not know how to contact them. I asked but did not get notification of where her services were at in time to attend.

If anyone knows how to contact the family, can you send the info. to me so I can ask about seeing if they are accepting donations? I am sure they would appreciate that.
