Not a question....it just make plain sense....why some don't get it I'll never know!!!eom
As I've read thru this weeks drama ("as The TER Turns"?), I've seen some posts where people seem to be confused if another post is aliased or not.
So, as a PSA, I humbly offer a TER reader's guide on how to determine if a post is under an alias ("aliased") or not ("not Aliased").
Non Aliased Post:
See the link below and look for the envelope by the poster's handle (between the "PROSOPIS" and the date). The envelope means the poster is not aliased. The envelope does NOT mean the person can send/receive PM's ("that costs extra").
Aliased Post:
This (my) post is aliased. See the lack of an envelope next to my 'handle'?
Thanks! I've wondered about that. Now I know.

theres a glitch in the ter post count system cuz i only use an alias when i want to start trouble and i can only think of maybe 10 times tops.
oh thats 6 months
whoops never mind
i just wish i could claim to be the root of ALL trouble but unfortunately looks like i got some stiff competition

By my count
20 uses of an alias over 6 months.
16 of those in the last 30 days.
at edit: correct da math

Interesting information. Largest user of alias is a guy not a provider as everyone thought it was. Fascinating!!!
which is pretty dam small compared to all the aliases that get posted....hum wonder who they are, if we could only get the top poster list to about 20 then we would really know the story!!!!!

ROFL
my math is always right
ask terri who gave her the #s ?
at the time i made that statement (2 weeks ago), i had only used an alias 4 times in 6 months.
i hardly think that constitutes a person who uses alias'

until i'm caught
I'm impressed.... How the heck does one figure that stuff out?
Take the top 10, search each handle on the board, going back six months, and the search results will give you a number of hits at the bottom of the page. Compare that number against the number of posts credited to the handle on the top ten list. TER credits all posts to the user, alias or not. It is one of the disadvantages to being a top ten poster.

why would anyone not post under an alias given the propensity of grudges held and attacks launched at the slightest hint of criticism or contrary view. Outright flaming by an alias should not happen; but basic criticism, or offering a different opinion under an alias should not matter.
In a forum like this, what is said should be much more important that who said it.
personally i have no fear of anything on this board affecting my life in any way.
i do find it interesting on those times when cookies come into play. You will often find a regular who wants to screw over someone they publicly call friend but privately cant stand.
these occurances are usually the ladies too go figure...
the last instance spanned two different boards and a local advertising site just to embarress someone for some slight real or imagined.
the system is broken and not being used for right so it really should disappear.
discretion. The biggest drama queen on this board has posted PM's and emails from others just because they pissed her off by what they said. How could anyone trust her or those like her (grudge holding, full tilt posting, hate mongers) in any way. I wouldn't give her screening info for any reason - I couldn't trust her with if, God forbid, I disagree with her on a board. An alias solves the problem.
you should report them so they can be moderated.
