I was going to post this on the Chilopsis "diatribe to discourse" thread below, but I think this might be a big one, so in the words of Bette Davis, "Hang on...it's gonna be a bumpy ride!"

A couple weeks ago, Vamptat was lambasted for lamenting what he described as the demise of the Phoenix discussion board.  I disagreed with his blaming of Dingus15, but I also pointed out that the board's frequent-poster lists might give a clue as to why so many fewer people are now participating.  Some (whose names are on that list) took offense, but I was just reporting the facts, not drawing conclusions.  The question of why this board is dead (or dying) remains the 600-lb gorilla that we're ignoring (with apologies to any of you who are actual 600-lb gorillas--it's just a colloquialism.)

This past week, a very prolific hobbyist told me that he rarely looks at this board anymore, because, in his words, "it generally lacks any useful information for hobbying."  That got me thinking that perhaps it's not WHO is posting, but WHAT is being posted that is driving away the crowds.

In response to my post last week, one provider said that she can't look back at the 2004 posts.  I don't think she's correct.  Anybody can.  And so now, I suggest, for the purposes of discussion and understanding, that everybody scroll down to the bottom of the main discussion board page, and in the box marked GO TO PAGE, enter 409.  Let's look at the Phoenix Discussion Board on this date in 2004!

Note first of all the massive number of people who read those threads back then.  Also note the diverse number of people posting, and the varied opinions and purposes of their posts.  I note a decidedly more hobbyist-oriented selection of information and discussion, and a lot less fluff and drivel.  (As an aside, those of you who know Isabella Amore will get a kick out of the post, on Page 410, where a newcomer calling herself SexyIsabella asks whether or not she should visit from Salt Lake!)

Anyway, browse around and see what you think.  Then come back here and tell us, "Where did all the hobbyists go?"  Just because it's a free country, and this forum is relatively open, doesn't mean that it's in the best interests of this community to use this as more of a AOL-style chat board, than a source of information for hobbyists.

Visited once that year, and moved here the next (wink)!

After having gone to ground in the executive cave, thought I would venture out.Is it safe yet? The board is what people make of it. I stand by but the right to free speech but that right can a be misused and abused. The chilling effect is evident on this board. It has become polluted with high jacks, useless banter, and at times out right attacks. The same names appearing over and over again. Many ladies and gents don't feel they can get a word in edge wise.

The gents who used to post for both entertainment and information have left the board for quieter safer havens. The information is still being disseminated. Now without the risk of being called a shill. If you think about it,having your name as a provider appear here 1-3 x a day or more is the biggest self shill of them all.   Deny it if you like ladies but it is a fine line you walk. Of course you don't use aliases where is the marketing value in that!

Look at the limited variety of ladies posting. Many have been attacked in private by their "sisters" or here by proxy. They find it is not worth the fight or risk the drama. What about the agency ladies?  Wouldn't it be nice to see a post on occasion from them. Some agencies allow their ladies to post but risk the wrath of  complaints from those who see it as threat.

So we have a few posting all the time, some ladies who have just given up on this board, the guys not wanting to speak their mind for fun or for intel, the board is boring and what little useful information is hidden in the middle of 50 cases of spam. So the casual readers just don't visit.

We need not try to revive "the good old days" Times and people change the present and future or ours.  The fix?  No one need leave. The board would not be the same without its crew. The frequent posters have lots of good insightful things to say but please show some restraint. Use your right do not abuse it, maybe others will feel welcome again. Gents maybe it is time to come back, post the jokes, the fun AND the intel. And ladies in waiting we miss you, I doubt many will return but please consider it.
Well that about sums it up, I guess I get cranky when I haven't been laid in awhile. Oh one more thing  Is it safe yet or I did I just step in shit?

1. you'll see the top 10 poster list is dominated by providers in every region. women run their mouths, thats just a fact.

2. if a provider publicly insults another provider, she can expect an attack from me but i have the class to do it in private.

3. the providers who hide from this board are hiding because they have something to hide.  all of the providers who still post here have all been attacked numerous times.

4. if you have nothing to hide and you are comfortable with the person that you are, of course its safe to come out.  but the people in this community are relatively smart and quick to point out a mistake so be prepared, stay on your toes and dont try to get away with hiding anything you wouldnt want exposed.

5. i post within ter regulations and nobody else's. if you think there needs to be a cap on the # of times a provider can post per day, there's a forum called suggestion & policy.

6. there are new girls and new hobbyists everyday.

to those that dont want to be here, good bye.. to those that are new here, welcome.  

obviously if a post was posted 3 years ago, it's going to have quite a few more views than something that was posted a month ago.

I did check the other boards did you? Except for Chicago and NY not many even come close to your frequency of posts and most of the other boards the top poster are gents.

I also did not say the providers are hiding I said that it is not worth the fight or drama as evidenced by your response.
The supply of new hobbyist does not seem to be  great, look at  the low read count. If you are right about it explains why you like to plaster your name over this board as a marketing tool.
If you are so confident of yourself sit back and let your reviews speak a little more and you a little less.
Who knows about new ladies the established ones never leave them any room. And if gent speaks up he is labeled a shill.
Because something is within the rules doesn't make it right
If you can't see what's going maybe take more time to look and to read and less time to write. I do know a good I doctor.

i looked at page 407 and it shows a period of 9 days on one page.

that suggests to me that there is a whole lot more posting going on now then there was back then.

as far as the # of views, well a post that has been up for 3 years has alot more time to get viewed than one that just went up.

i think this board has gotten alot more friendly in the last 6 months since certain people have gone away.. all the providers that are here now get along very well and there are only a few rogue hobbyists that get out of line and i doubt they will be here much longer as people get wise to them.

i dont know if you're saying you are a doctor or if you know one. regardless, i dont see either way what that has to do with reading or writing.

i'm sorry you dont enjoy my posts modprod. maybe you should post more and encourage the people whose posts you do enjoy to post more, instead of discouraging those of us left that still do.  

phoenix has one of the most active regional boards.
vegas, minnesota, chicage are 3 off the top of my head that i know are very active and i checked those boards and actually the # of posts of their most frequent posters are comparable to mine.

also atlanta, new york are active boards.  
yeah some boards, there most frequent poster has only 3 posts .. .probably because people got criticized for posting so their boards died. who knows.

I answered you directly about the most frequent posters and you took it elswhere. As far as readers come on Anna do you really thing that 500 or 1000 people are going back and reading old posts and that drives the count up?
You are right on the money, more folks should post and post more often. The message is that overposting by a few has put a chill on things. I think you should keep posting, you have good things to say when you actually say something. But don't delute everything.
Sorry the play on words went over your head it was not I am a doctor  but I know an  "I" doctor  as in one for your ego.  I am glad the board is friendly for you now how about the rest.

yes i have attacked a provider privately. it was for making an extremely rude comment about another provider who was relatively new. i'm happy to see that she is gone and i'm not the only one.  however, i've never posted a fake review of myself and i've certainly never posted a fake bad review of another provider like one of our beloved and recently delisted providers did to me.  

i'm glad the trash got taken out because the girls that post here now are truly helpful and friendly to each and not back stabbing bxxxxs.

i didnt say the board was friendly to me. i said it was more friendly OVER ALL.
and it is.

the board is actually pretty unfriendly to me but thats ok because i dont mind taking some shit now and then, i'm pretty good at throwing it back

75% of his posts are under an alias.

i didnt accuse him of using them for attacks.. just think its very very telling of where the problem may lie.

my posts are 10% alias. if you're going to compare #s. make sure you have a common denominator.  

another difference between our #s you might not be aware of is that i helped terry compile them and i was aware that i would be implicated but told her to go ahead, i'd take the heat. it would be worth it.

so dont hijack this thread and try to make it all about me. the subject is the state of this board and what brought it about.

I've commented in the past about the value of a provider's "name" and the risk that occurs when she over posts and/or can't stay on topic.

She runs a serious risk of damanging that name and impairing her reputation. Personally, I won't venture to see a gal based on her posts - but I will decide to not see a gal based on her posts.

Does she not stay "on topic" or frequently mis-interprets what others are saying? If so, then I doubt I could have a comfortable time with her. As a guy that doesn't even know HOW to book a single hour appt. , there is lots of time to "talk" in those appt's that I do make.

Do I sense a malavelent (sp) agenda in her posts or a repeating pattern of caustic language? If so, then I'll pass on seeing her. I don't need to import the drama.

This is a hobby. Most of us don't hobby to get drawn into shit-storms or pissing contests.

BTW, there were two recent posts that started a new thread. One by a provider who is a frequent poster and one by a hobbiest that infrequently posts. The hobbiest's post time was after the providers and the posts drew attention to the exact same topic.

The hobbiest posted thread took off with lots of responses. The provider's thread didn't. Why? I suggest because some/most people had long ago concluded that the ratio of useful vs. not useful information in the provider's posting history was just too low. I think she is trying to change that, and I encourage her to continue, but reversing that perception is a difficult task.

Ladies, FWIW: There is a fine line between over-posting and not. If you have something RELEVENT to say - SAY IT. You have loyal folllowings and that is a testament to your abilities. But, IMO, replenishing that client base in preperation for wehn your repeat clients leave the hobby (or whatever) is necessary.

gets all the jucies runnin....blood and otherwise.

Seems like they both post a lot... one with few aliases and the with lots of aliases....Don't like the post or poster just move on as been said many times!

whether you are turned off by it or not, many may be. I'm glad it's a free world.

The two posts were not even the same subject, but seems like more read this one cause it has more drama in it....ya think?

i just enjoy having the hobbyists try to get me rather than me try to get them..

maybe more women should just be themselves and then there wouldnt be so much disappointment when guys found out that they have picked someone who isnt true to her character.

as soon as i need biz advice from someone about selling a product that they dont have and will never have, i'm going to shoot myself or maybe contact you, dunno yet but would hope you would be ok with that cuz seems like a shortage of guys that know all about it.  ok ?
