Received many responses from you good people in Phoenix in a earlier post. I can only to hope to receive the same this time. I'll be staying near the TPC course in Scottsdale and was wondering where a good place/places to hang out have a drink, meet some nice people might be? I'm not into noisey night clubs and prefer places that cater to the 30-55 age group. I'm also an admirer of a good bar! Thanks in advance for any suggestions - I'll be there the last week of the month into October.

Barcelona's caters to the more mature crowd and has a great atmosphere. It's a hop/skip away from where you'll be staying off of Scottsdale rd and Greenway/Hayden loop.

There are a couple of good places very close by. Earl's for dinner and drinks is right next door. Eli's (just down Scottsdale Road) has live oldies music 7 nights a week and is a lot of fun - good "meat market" too. Numerous excellent restaurants closeby as well such as "Zinc Bistro" and "North" in Kierland.

Times25 - here goes with a list of places I'd recommend within 3 miles of the TPC stadium course:

Restaurants
-----------
a) Persian Room / Scottsdale Rd. Excellent cuisine, not too pricey & very generous portions.
b) Kierland Commons / Scottsdale Rd.: "North", "Zinc Bistro", "Cheesecake Factory", "P.F. Changs", and the "Ocean Club" (top ten seafood restaurants in the USA)
c) Sapporo / Scottsdale Rd. Good Japanese Sushi & Teppanyaki.

Bars/Clubs
----------
a) Earl's. 101&FLW. Youngish crowd but comfortable. Good restaurant as well.
b) Barcelona's. Mentioned before, nice but yuppy. Worth eating dinner there and going straight to the club to avoid lines & cover :)
c) Jillie's. Off Scottsdale on Butherus @ airport. Live Music on weekends, youngish crowd but not too yuppy.
d) Eli's - Scottsdale/Shea. Live music 7 days. Great atmosphere and also a pickup joint for the 35+ crowd.
e) Remington's - A bit further south, but the only good live jazz music with a comfortable atmosphere in town. Small, not crowded because it's an insider tip. The owner loves jazz and sponsors the place so that he can always go there.

There are many more fantastic restaurants in the area but fall outside of the 3-mile range :) For the over-30 crowd Eli's is the best place with an excellent menu and a lot going on. Usually have a number of ladies dancing on the bar towards the end of the evening - especially Sundays.
