I was hoping to get more information on hosting areas in Phoenix, and areas to stay away from. Info on Mesa/Glendale areas would be great as well! Thank you in advance.

Mesa is in the far east Valley and Glendale in the NW Valley. Downtown or North Scottsdale would be easily accessible by freeway from any part of the Valley. I recommend those two areas.

Are there better play days than others? I've been told I should base my visits around golf events. I know certain cities are better to visit early in the week or mid-week and some are better during the weekends like Vegas (where I am currently)... any thoughts or suggestions?
