Have noticed lately that a number of the girls are advertising as both independents and also hooked up with an agency. What is that all about? Do they hook up with the higher priced agencies so that they can jack their overall rates up? If they are willing to let an agency take its cut of the fee, isn't it a slap in the face to the guys who book with them through their independent advertisements? If they offer a lower fee as an independent then they get as an agency girl, then why would anyone book with them through the agency? Something about this just doesn't seem right.

If an independent provider decides to go with an agency she will not usually need to do as much work.  It's not just about the appointment.  She needs to return phone calls, emails, book hotel rooms, furnish apartments, check references.  Clearly, an independent provider can have a full-time job.  If she has raised her rates while going with an agency that is her business too. Perhaps, she has become accustomed to a certain "rate" and does not want to sacrifice that fee while working with an agency.  Regardless it is her business and a free market.  At least she's not charging you sales tax.  Go shop elsewhere if you don't like it.. I guess the "retired" one doesn't need to be as politically correct. :)

does it matter who someone works for. 1st agencies are not "higher priced" automatically. Just browsing glenns site the current indie "rack rate"  is between $300 and $400 with most at $350 or more. Basically the tradeoff is keeping your entire fee and absorbing your overhead or giving up a cut and letting someone else handle those issues. To the end user its about the same financially.

i'll be the first to admit,i'm not an expert on how this all works..but from a biz standpoint,if a provider considers setting up the room..taking calls, yada yada part of her fee(which i would think she would)and she forgoes that responsibility to someone else, that person should be compensated and her accual fee less..the overall fee should remain the same..as hacker has pointed out the rates are about the same across the board..doesn't really matter..who are we to question their rates?.thier all different with different modes of operation...in the end you either pay or you don't
