In a word" "Yes," of course it happens, pretty often, in fact.
It's just the get-togethers I'm familiar with are very low-key, and certainly not publicized. But, trust me, it was going on 7 or 8 years ago, and never has stopped.

Does it still exist ?
When I first started in the hobby, I learned the ropes ( like any newbee ) . Sooner or Later I found my nitch and the type of companion / provider I wanted to be and the type of cliental that worked for me and vice versa .
While in conversation a discussion of the Old day sparked. (B.E) ( Before Gray) -
The times when men and ladies would do dinners and dates, Do large scale private parties , enjoy events together and have multi friends hang at a house "together" privately etc.
Vacations and manages at a secret location etc... Cocktail hours and honest referrals between real business men who knew what it was to find a real gem and a discretionary ... Does this happen still ? This is why I , got into the business - to enjoy myself and to have an amazing time and experience, Not to meet joe shmo for a 15 min apt to pay the light bill ....

Having had a pulse of the industry since 1996 at one point with 1500 members you know where, big changes happened after the DD raid where much of the evidence in addition to a book full or reviews was the undercovers at the parties who openly solicited and were solicited.
Today we have even more LE activity and felonies charged often.
Some of the private group folks (the boardroom) went to prison with felonies or pled to felonies.
In my view parties can be safe like the old Rose parties we co-sponsored with, or the "Sky High Condo" parties which was organized, presentations, intros (I enjoyed being MC) not just meet at a bar somewhere between 6pm and midnight and often a bit clicky.
Parties, get to gathers etc can be perfectly safe - dah just like anytime never discuss sex for money and of course don't work together with a driver or another companion since you may face a felony vs a misdemeanor. The easiest bust of course is for bad words like GFE on ads or websites.
Compared to what many companions do all the time to be easy targets parties, meet-greets are far saver than most other activities companions do if done right like Rose's annual Toys for Tots and of course our parties that had about 100 attend.
The out-to-dinner dates referred to I have seldom if ever heard of back to 1996, including when The Bachelor Beat was the primary advertising media
