As a person who enjoyed this industry over a decade ago and then started up again, I have been exceptionally pleased with the quality and enthusiasm demonstrated here in the Phoenix community. Mya, Kylie, and HaileyJ are all exceptional ladies and unique in their own respective ways and I heartily recommend all of them.
However, this community has been engaged in conflict for quite some time now. While most everyone tends to enjoy some juicy gossip and the occaisional "sniping" from time to time, the discussion board has become ground zero for scathing commentary, personal attacks, etc. My question to all providers, hobbyists, and lurkers like myself is...what happened to this industry being FUN to participate in? Why are these boards dominated by he said, she said, they said and no one wins. Only those who used to enjoy the boards lose.
This may show how old I am, but when I was younger, the mantra was always if you don't have something nice to say, then don't say anything. If you feel strongly about voicing an opinion, then take it privately or offline. I am not implying that we all play lets pretend, but some common courtesy would be welcome.
This industry, by DEFINITION, is the most INTIMATE of industries and yet we treat it with maturity of high schoolers. Business will be better for all if we present the positives of the industry rather than usual dirty laundry.
Rant over and soapbox abdicated for someone else to occupy!
I think that their is a fine line that gets crossed a bit to often. One of the valuable services a BBS provides is the flow of information (and yes opinion). The truth is that often "good" information is useless information. The problem comes when "bad" information is misleading or down right false.
I'll use myself as an example, way back I posted a couple of comments regarding TLC that had Taylor (and Kara) spitting nails. Later we got a chance to meet and I gladly posted an update here....but originally she thought I was a shill {among other things}and didnt really exist.
I dont have a problem with anyone "throwing rocks"...I just want them to do so under their "real handle" and be accountable & fair. It's pretty easy for someone to see if they share my general thoughts by looking at what I've posted under various threads and checking my reviews. When you post under an alias that accountability is lost.
