All of your studs who never need chemical help, stop reading now (and the rest of us hate you).  I wonder two things: 1) What is the hobbyist community's consensus about the best product on the market?  2) Has anyone discovered a reliable source for buying them online for less than I pay at my pharmacy ($12 per 100mg tab)?

It sounds like you have a prescription, that is good. So most of this response doesn't really relate to you. But, I feel relatively strongly about the "pill" and potential careless usage; so please forgive this little detour...

There are some potentially nasty interactions (drug and otherwise) of these drugs. For example, mixing Viagra and Erothomycin (ERY-TAB) is a bad thing. For some reason, grapefruit juice and Viagra don't play well together either (I don't remember if grapefruit juice is an inhibitor or what). If, god forbid, a person has heart problems while on Viagra, the doctors that will treat the heart attack are limited in their options. The normal treatment requires drugs that dilate the blood vessels, but the Viagra has already done this (that is the primary catalyst for how it works - and why a person may feel light headed) and taking more drugs will drop the blood pressure to an extremely low level.

Don't take these drugs unless you've had a proper medical exam, or your doctor has a medical history, so they can ensure it is OK!

So, back to your post. Given the drug interactions - why go online to get your 'script filled? If you were to use a single pharmacy, you can be confident that any drugs prescribed by a doctor will be flagged by the pharmacist as a drug interaction and proper action taken. For example, ERY-TAB (an antibiotic) is a common low-grade tool for fighting simple bacterial infections. Do you really want to try and keep track of these interactions yourself?

Now to a more direct comment. If you are hobbying, you have some financial resources, so why take the above risks when all you will be able to save (at most) is a few dollars a pill?

As for alternatives, which is what I think you are asking about in (1), I can't offer anything. I believe otehrs have commented on herbal "remedies", so you may try a search of the board going back, say 1 year for "Viagra" or "herbal".

Happy hobbying and be careful.

I haven't tried it myself, but this is popular in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

I've never used Viagra but do take a gell cap product called 'Hot Plants' that you can purchase in any Whole Foods store and probably othes.  Take twice a day.  Never have had issues

thereby prolonging (in an unpredictable manner) the metabolism and deactivation of Viagra (that is it alters the pharmacokinetic profile).  This enhances the potential for cardiovascular complications.  Sorta the same for Erythromycin... and other macrolides....
