Recently I recieved a call from a provider that is now with an agency she wants to go independent and wants information. I would love to help out as I stated in an earlier thread I want to be there for the other new providers. I do not want the agency to be upset if I help . Should she first give her notice before asking me? I am not wanting to ruffle feathers here but do not want her upset and think I am trying to hold her back from being an indie. Any ideas? thanks Victoria

Leaving and agency and going independent sounds attractive to some agency girls but a lot of them are not aware of the time, expenses, and all the other things that independents must take care of be successful in an increasingly competitive business environment.

My advice is to give her the general info she needs to make a informed choice first. She may, depending on many factors, decide that being with an agency is actually the best situation for her. If she still wants to go forward and needs more detailed help in getting started as an indy, I think asking her to inform the agency first is the way to go. You will probably need to follow up on that since I have found many times the girls are intimidated to let the agency know, even if they were told by the agency many times that it is fine if they ever decide to go indy, but just let us know first.

Don't think you'll ruffle feathers if you follow this advice. Been using this approach when an agency girl wants to leave the big four here in the valley and advertise independently on 411 and it seems to be an agreeable protocol with them.

Very few here have any real knowledge of the relationships between the agencies and their providers, and hobbyists interests aren't exactly aligned with providers (independent or agency).

I wouldn't worry about it. Just tell her as it is. Nobody owes anybody anything -its a free world or almost - you could always charge her for your advice. In todays economy, her only loyalty should be to herself and ensuring she has the income to survive. Why would it bother you - so you went to few agency sponsered parties - hey?

Your wrong it is about our shared community... This was more directed to our wonderful big four angencys I feel we all need to work together. This was more directed to how the agencys feel and also the provders that our unsure just what to do. I would prefer Myas approach as That seems fair to all. Thanks for your help everyone.

It's real obvious for this girl to go to her boss and let them know of her intentions. This is done in all aspects of the work force.

what im really curious to know, are all the above aliases the same person? If so, you should be aware that the use of sockpuppets in a discussion is pretty silly.

also your skills at taking me to task are sadly lacking for it only serves to strengthen my argument that the alias privlege is outmoded. This board has proven time and again that if you give the average user the smallest bit privacy that it will be used to belittle someone else.

sorry if this post was useless to some, I however recieved seral PM's from agencys with postive advice also sereral providers PMed me with the same situation and concerns, I thought  the boards were more than jusr about sexing it up.....I was not wanting to out these gals and have them lose their jobs just was looking for a little help which I did recieve. that the questions be asked to the agency privately. it's not for any of use to pass on advise. That's ruffling feathers...confronting the issue like this is like going behind the back. the agency gal has already asked for help before she has given notice. So really not sure why the post. Except to publicly announce "helping new providers from an earlier thread" many ladies have helped newbies, that happens all the time.

I may have used strong words as a useless post...so stated by some of you. I do apologize Victoria but I think you should have thought about this before you posted, you should have know the proper protocol. My honest opinion.

As someone also stated that Victoria doesn't need to advertise. If you think all the posts are not advertising, you all need to think again. It's just not done in the manner as most of the ladies.

So in short sorry for not really understanding the post and making some observations.

I think i have a sense of humor, i could be wrong i suppose.

Giant Wangs on confections just dont strike me as funny. the phrase is ok if a bit heavy handed. however since it was probably a bachlorette party, i imagine those legs were slamming shut pretty quick. (/mourn for my married borthers who never get any)

that doesnt change the fact that aliases are massively abused by most of the providers who hold accounts. I honestly think if the privilege to create an alias is going to be abused by the those who use them then it should be taken away.
