The good news is it is great to be back  on TER  the downside  are the fake reviews that can be mean spirtied by men who want their free 2 weeks ....I have a new review from My August trip to LA  this month  but I NEVER went  I cancelled it  and stayed here in PHX  because I wanted to rest before heading to Maui what's a girl to do? I guess this just goes with the  reviewing  process .....FYI  I am over 45 and a mature provider  and proud of it !  I will never be 20 again  nor even 40 so if that is what you want some hardbody go for it  and have fun  but if you choose to see me  remember I am what I am  and make no excuses for it ....I still am happy to be back  just disappointed  the a very few  feel the need to take you down......

Imagine the nerd in high school winning a date with the Super Hot Prom Queen/Cheerleader and then can write about it so he can get a free milk shake for two weeks... and she gets no chance to rebut what he writes. This may be his one chance to even the score of the unfairness that this beautiful woman would normally never give him a second glance. "Well, first she was late, and then I noticed a booger in her nose, she was pretty but not as pretty as her yearbook picture, and there was a hair growing out of the mole on her left wrist, and then, when I was kissing her, it seemed like she threw up in her mouth,..."

Oh, sorry, guys are just relaying events matter-of-factly with no intention of harming anyone's reputation. Geez, I don't know why I said that. Please forgive me.

You probably did fly out there and see him and just can't remember because you're so old... KIDDING! hahahaha

OK now I have to speak up, as this is the 2nd time this topic has been brought up in the past 2 weeks.  Victoria, I read your post last week about the inconsistent review/rating.  I had so many things I wanted to elaborate upon it, but I decided to keep my mouth shut since my tact (or lack thereof!) can sometimes end up haunting me, besides the possibility of irritating the mods.  Though now I can't help but comment on some of what you & Angelique have made as great points, & likewise share my view of perception.

I remember that feeling I got upon receiving my first 'less than perfect' review scoring (other boards use different scoring scales than TER, making it possible to receive a perfect score).  It was this guy's 1st ASP encounter (therefor, obviously his 1st review nonetheless), & I knew he had a wonderful time, as so did I.  Now I went out of my way/over & above normal protocol to accommodate this guy b/c he was hesitant to go through with the session, so I made an exception for him & spent an hour talking to him for comfort.  Knowing it could end up a waste of time b/c he could decide to walk out the door at any minute, 2 hours later, he left with a smile on his face & received quite the bargain for an hour of rates.  The next day the review was shy of perfect b/c he marked me lower for atmosphere!  WT... ?  Are you kidding me?  I have not & will not ever have an I/C if anything is out of place AND I receive nothing but compliments on the decorating schema & craftsmanship of my residence, while at night candles & incense are going for extra ambiance & this guy wants to take off points b/c he's not in the Taj Mahal?  I do recall he kept mentioning how wealthy he was, while raised as poor, & I guess he was just snubbing me.

My point sides with what TylerDurden said in response to Victoria's post last week about how guys have different rating ideals.  This is obvious & can have quite the impact.  Then, as cdfix stated, he won't give reviews unless he can score them an 8 or higher b/c he is concerned about possible repercussions on the girl's service.  Now I thought that was really very apathetic of cdfix, I mean, what a cool Hobbyist to actually care even if he had a so-so time... until I read Pinchi's response on how unfair that is b/c now the reason for ever posting reviews in the 1st place, has been lost.  So, while cdfix's gesture is nice, Pinchi's argument is the valid 1, b/c like it or not for us Providers, the whole initial purpose of reviews was to aid in the prevention of Hobbyists getting ripped off.

Fine.  But that still doesn't make up for the fact that each Hobbyist has a different cognition regarding the scale spectrum.  And not to offend, but I don't think many of them give a damn if they even do realize the effects it will cause for her business.

Likewise, there are the totally fake reviews, as Victoria mentions.  One guy tried this crap on me several months back on another board & I got him kicked off.  I hadn't even met this jerk who was mad b/c I refused to see him b/c he gave me the creeps & we had only corresponded via site email.  And no, it wasn't Somerandomguy12, but he's probably here on this board right now reading this LONG reply.  :o

Lastly, there are the exaggerated reviews that contain untrue claims in favor of the Provider to make the author look more Alpha among the other board reviewers, out of competitiveness.  It's a mere incident of one upping the other, even if they have to lie.  There are a few reviews out there about me with claims that we did this & we did that... no we didn't!  Are they forgetting that I was there & I would know?  But when you can't edit or comment on your own reviews... !

If you want to know a more effective way to evaluate a Provider's service, I think it would entail one Hobbyist calling another, as a listed reference, & chatting about it, asking the appropriate concerns & getting better explicit details.  However, this has its glitches too, b/c there lies an array of possibilities for the callee to lie to the caller, both in her favor & vice-versa.  So what can you do?

...because we link our reviews to our websites and then advertise on places that aren't viewed exclusively by TER members, many, many guys see our profiles and review blurbs that are not TER members (they are often written "For non-VIPs..." like only Non-VIP TER members can read them, when a lot of guys that read them aren't TER members at all). The profiles and blurbs are public. Anyone can see them without a TER membership at all.

The guys who support "honest" reviews often justify the negativity by saying you have to research the reviewer and take their words with a grain of salt.

Well, Joe Shmo who ran across your website on Eros and can't research reviewers may not read past the top review that is by Mr. Dickhead that says, "She was more overweight than her pictures looked and bit older, too. It was okay. I've had better. But I would not repeat." Is Joe Shmo gonna want to see you after that? No way. The average guy thinks TER reviewers are experts just like restaurant critics are experts. They don't realize that literally ANYBODY can write a review on TER. And maybe this reviewer has had his tastes skewed by too many $600/hr 10s than the average guy has had who might think the provider's body was amazing. No, after that blurb, he is picturing Bertha and he will pass.

The problem is that besides our ads, we don't have any other way to gain credibility than with reviews. Reviewers may want to post them so that their own little club knows the "real story," but the blurbs can drive away a lot of potential business from non-TER members who don't even know there is a club.

Granted, they may not be able to read past the blurbs, but there is a lot of critical, negative stuff that ends up just there in the blurb, nevermind the juicy details.

One solution is to create your own review page on your website and have guys who think you are amazing write what they think about you and post it there. I've run across that on some websites and I like that it gives you some control over your reputation with the general population than just being at the mercy of reviewers, who (some) may only be motivated by getting free VIP access (yes, I said it and I will say it again).

Oh, vivaciousval's website has that (her own review page). Check her's out:  http://vivaciousval.com/my-reviews.phtml.

Beyond that, we don't have any ability to refute, rebut or tell our "side of the story" here other than to "report a problem" when there are gross inaccuracies.

I don't even look at my reviews anymore. I just do my best and hope it all works out. One bad or tepid review can't hurt you long term. Let them have their locker room talk in their club. I do know that, for me, being reviewed period led to a lot more business than when I wasn't reviewed at all! So, I just take the good with the not so good.

It's just annoying when guys seem to think only TER members look at the reviews and they are only speaking to an exclusive audience. The whole world can hear it.

Bravo sister!  And for the newbie Hobbyist (which is really a contradiction in terms), they don't know these politics & probably don't bother to dig deeper once they see that one shitty review right off the bat, as Angelique insinuates.  Then again, there are those totally fake reviews published by some jackass to appease his cause, & even IF you can get those removed from print, it still takes the search engines, traveling at the speed of light, an eternity of light-years before it completely burns out of public view.  And Victoria, I think we should do the same as Angelique & not read our reviews from here on, b/c we 3 (among others) obviously take it seriously to heart when we receive a non-agreeable rating for something we know is dishonestly inconsistent with the author's satisfaction/gratitude.  And I'll just reiterate what's been said many times before about the reality of writing reviews on Hobbyists... some would forever be up the creek with no paddle in sight, banishing their future activity with anyone who screens.

Honestly, knowing nothing about this industry when I started, it took me about 6 mo to figure out that I needed reviews & why.  But when I began though, I only saw them as a stupid, sure bust, by blatantly exploiting the graphic details of an unlawful act, as authorities see it, & even though consenting adults would have that right, once the donation rate is listed within the review, either party no longer has any rights.  I still see review posting as audacious, as if to say LE can't read.

HalfHour527 reads

in fact I've stopped refering to reviews completely. I use a variety of other means to decide if I'd like to see a particular provider. Especially private introductions.

But like you said the average Joe who comes across this site may heavily depend on what he reads, and that might be BS.
