I posted the note to make sure providers and hobbyists realize this is now the law. Didn't make any comments about it. But as one who travels into your state and plays, or did, I thought it was significant enough that EVERYONE should be aware of it. Not everyone seems to be as well informed as you.

New law in Az as of today -makes it a jail sentence if you are arrested for prostitution or for hobbying -that's JAIL sentence. Read the details. (below).

Nice to live in a free country like the USA.  It's worth fighting wars to preserve our freedom.

The law doesn't make it any easier to convict.  It slightly increases the penalties.  Thanks for the long-distance call for panic, though.  What's the penalty where you live?

this was discussed in an earliet thread and posted when it was signed.  I agree with AzLaw there was no need for this to be posted again.

Some of us dont read the earlier threads and don't visit these boards every day.

And Legal Eagles out there, please correct me if I'm wrong, but this new law doesn't make anything a crime that already isn't, and always has been. Just upped the penalties for CONVICTION, not ARREST or CITATION...right?

It's certainly good to know, forewarned IS forearmed, but hardly an earth-shattering development in a land where we'll give up all manner of freedoms for "security" and clearly nothing for the denizens HERE to be concerned about.

After all, the accounts and tales we read here are just fictional imaginings....right?

No reason for panic, and frankly, I haven't seen any.

Nobody in the game should need any MORE reasons to be smart and careful.

But just in case anyone DID, there ya go. Wake up calls certainly can't hurt. Things go too smoothly for too long, people get complacent and drop their guard. In this "hobby", the price of freedom really IS eternal vigilance.

All the posts about the new law are all very well thought out. This whole situation is very political and very unfortunate for all concerned. It goes against the character of this great country. It goes against your beautiful Constitution and your myriad of freedoms. This law is going to make it very tough for the ladies, and it going to benefit a bunch of low life parasites. Here’s, why:

Let’s be "realistic": A lady gets arrested, doesn’t want to do jail time so she hires an attorney. Maybe she does some time, maybe she doesn’t, but somewhere in the process she’s released. How do you think she raises the money to pay the exorbitant legal fees for legal services that are-more likely than not-provided by some shyster who is member of that special “gaggle of golden boys” that Megan is fond of mentioning? Why, she’s out on the street again, working overtime and under more stress than ever!! She’s forced to turn even more tricks to pay off the rotten, sleaze ball scum.

For the most part, prostitution is situational, and I am pleased that-as a community-most of us are in agreement about the unfortunate set of circumstances that lead to these crazy laws and enforcement practices. These circumstances are poverty and abuse.

Poverty and abuse leaves many ladies and girls alone and broke. They are vulnerable and susceptible to be insidiously drawn into the profession. Many times this is accomplished at the behest of predatory scum who are slick and systematic. The ladies are manipulated. They get in too deep and they just can’t get out. Eventually they become beholding to a bunch of lousy, manipulative, predatory, sleaze ball scum. These useless characters are the ones that should be targeted by LE and legislation. Their activities are felonies of the worst kind. These worthless manipulative, so and so’s, should be arrested, prosecuted and imprisoned. Their lives should be ruined.

For survivals sake, most of these ladies become consummate actors, but after they’ve been in the “profession” for awhile they disassociate and loose the ability to feel. They harden their hearts; and, over a period of time, most develop a defense mechanism that is something akin to a philosophical rationale to justify their life style (You should just hear them talk!). This convoluted rationale protects their self-esteem and helps them adjust to an incredibly unfortunate state of affairs. It affords them a modicum of sanity… (And, dearest, Megan,if you read this post, please don’t get upset with me. This process exists in escorting as well in street prostitution.). Anyway,,,

Power to the people and working girls unite!!

I love you all and peace,

FATIMA

P.S. Let's not forget the Moms on Mother's day!

I'm pretty sure it wasn't me who used this statement. Please stop saying it and then stating, "That Megan is so fond of mentioning.

It would be much appreciated because if I did use this statement, it was not in relation to street pimps and thugs, so it's being misused in the first place.

Thanks,

Megan

PS I'm also uncertain as to why you keep adderessing me personally and asking me not to be upset with you when you mention that prostitutes and in some cases, legitimate escorts, become actors in these two different professions and lose the ability to feel, harden their hearts and develop defense mechanisms. Frankly, as life goes on, everyone in every profession and walk of life develops some emotional armor to protect themselves from the certain misfortunes that occur in life. Please do not address me directly with regard to these two issues any longer. I don't understand why you have so many times in the last three weeks to begin with.

Dearest Megan:

I am so sorry to have left you with so many miss impressions. I will try and clarify things.

You mentioned the “gaggle of Golden Guys” on 4/22/2006 in a post script to a rather long, drawn-out, and rather personal response to my lead post which is about outing. To make a long story short, you said I was stereo typing. I was not stereo typing, per say, because I have the statistics to back me up.  Also, you seemed to have gotten the miss-impression that I was referring to “street pimps and thugs” in my last post. I was not. I was referring to the same group that you were referring to in your post of 4/22/2006. I just embellished the reference with some adjectives that were more appropriate and indicative of the type of criminal LE and legislators should target.

The rotten, sleaze ball, predatory, scum bag, parasites, referred to are by no means street pimps and thugs. Megan, dearest, I am sorry if you received that impression. Street pimps and thugs are very small change compared to the characters mentioned in the quote below:

“Poverty and abuse leaves many ladies and girls alone and broke. These useless characters are the ones that should be targeted by LE and legislation (not the ladies). Their activities are felonies of the worst kind. These worthless manipulative, so and so’s, should be arrested, prosecuted and imprisoned. Their lives should be ruined.”

Again, sorry for the misunderstandings and I hope this makes things a little less vague.

I love you all, and let’s not forget our Moms this week-end.

PEACE,

Sheika Fatima

I KNOW that you were trying to be HELPFUL.

I appreciate thoughtful gestures, especially when it might involve my safety...Thank you for helping and don't let these guys get to you or stop you from posting here.

I always want to learn any new information we can get especially about our laws.  It can be so complicated to understand.  I appreciate any help...even more then once.

I think this law is just the beginning.

Did you see Oprah Monday night?  She did a prostitution segment.  Ofcourse she focused on crack ho's, truck stops, pimps and underage girls.

I guess we should always be glad that we were not exposed...however...we all know better.

A very small percentage of the bigger picture is the street walker problem....now really?

Why is no one talking about the alarming rise of of women joining the forces.  Maybe our economy is so bad we can't live on just one income anymore.  Then add children and you may need 3 incomes...just to survive.  How many mothers and business women have turned to other sources of income, just to eat?  VERY few of us are losers...most of us are quite smarter then the average woman.

I must say that my live changed for the worst and I lost everything...I turned to this profession for money and help...and I got it...THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE. Now I want to give back as well.

I come to the table with MEGA EXPERIENCE and now I am even stronger, healthier and Infamous by my own doing.  I have better relationships now and am much happier.  Life is not perfect by far...let me tell you, butt it's BETTER and I make my own choices.  I have learned so much...that you could never learn elsewhere!!!  We all do live a little easier haveing money in the bank and food in our bellies.   MANY are not so lucky.

My issue is about glamourizing.  Our profession has good points and bad points just like any other profession.  We just have to work alot harder to get anywhere with our laws.  Gathering ladies to make changes is kinda like hurding cats!!!

I wood love to be able to teach advanced sensual and sexual techniques to men, women and especially COUPLES.  We have a lot farther to go in our developement as a country.  I know in time things will change, butt how much longer.  Will I get to see it in my lifetime???

This country needs more sexual education.  How can we do that from jail.  What needs to be rehabilitated is our backwards laws.  I'm not a lawyer...butt I can have one in me...lol.

I believe it's all perspective:
Prostitution is not the oldest profession, it's the ONLY profession. It's all relative. We are all selling something aren't we. Doesn't SEX sell best...even better then word of mouth.

Prostitutes sell SEX butt:

Escorts share companionship
Providers offer services based on time
Trantra instructors help educate us
Adult Entertainers, entertain us
Sexual surrogates help heal our sexual disfunctions.

Women have been using their bodies to get what they want...since day one probably. Some have figured out there are other ways.  If our professions were supported other HATE crimes wood deminish.  Rehabilitating us to what?  I don't feel dirty or ashamed for loving or healing.  Since when is using and abusing better then mutual consentual adult enjoyment.

EDUCATION...we need more ho manuals, lol...write girls write...the pen is mightier then the sword...besides its good therapy.  We can sell our books and enlighten people to our stories.  All of us are UNIQUE...there is no set standard on who or how we end up here.  It is usually a CHOICE.  I bet many ladies could make a difference if they discreetly write about their experiences and educate people.

That was the one thing I had to agree with on Oprah...no one grows up to be a prostitute!!!

We all have our unique stories...some sad, some successful...it all depends on who we are and what we bring to the table with us and how we develope with our new found FREEDOM...which is VERY important and worth fighting for.

Oprah didn't have any success stories did she...why not???

I am trying to figure out...all alone...how to stand up and fight for our rights and not go to JAIL...any suggestions???

Well I better quit here, I probably said to much already...this is just my fired up opinion after watching oprah and reading our new laws.

Aren't laws suppose to PROTECT US???

AzCandy, Very well put! Bravo!  I have been out of the "circle" shall we say for a little while so this was very interesting to read up on, and there is never any right or wrong statement or question.. I was always taught it was the one that was not asked that is the wrong one....Any way...just thought I would chime in and give my two cents worth...
XOXO Katrina
