While watching tv just now on channel 5 tells of a volunteer for the democratic party and how she fought with a man early today then they show her and....
is the literally a little old lady, I believe she said she was in her 80's
she talked about the struggle she had with him over a sign she was by and how he cut it and then they pulled each at it for about 2 minutes. Then she reached into his car and there was a stack of business cards, she took one and wrote down his license plate as he drove away.
Well the card and the car belong to Chandler's John Huppenthal who is running for re election. Wow but attacking a little old lady??? That is so wrong in every and any way.
Here is the story they are reporting so far.
Chandler police said they are investigating a poll worker's claim that she was assaulted by someone driving a state senator's car.
Ruth Levin said she was handing out information for the Democratic party outside a polling place and had a sign opposing state Sen. John Huppenthal, a republican representing District 6 in Chandler.
Police said the man who grabbed Levin's fliers and sign was driving a car registered to the Huppenthal household.
Chandler police have not said whether it was Huppenthal who was involved in this incident
They are not really going to care about a guy from Chandler on the national board.
This needs to be seen by his friends, neighbors, LOCAL voters.
Please stop posting this crap as an excuse to get your name in front of everyone.

If you had SEEN the TV interview of her you would be as outraged as I am about this. This VOLUNTEER was not hurting anyone, just expressing her rights and was attacked by this jerk. THIS IS WRONG period. I realize it doesn't sound like much of a story but when I SAW her I was shocked. This woman is your sterotypical grandmother.

Misty is a very well respected and well loved provider on these boards and deserved much better treatment than that. If you dont like her posts, dont read them. In California you must be at least 100 ft. away from a polling place to be taking about or handing out any literature. Is the law the same in AZ and was she right outside the polling place. If so this person may have had a right to take it. NOT I repeat NOT assult this lady. If she wouldn't give the material up willingly he should have proceeded into the polling place and reported her to whomever was in charge and let them handle it.
Again just for the record he had no excues assulting this lady and if that is the case he should be brought to trial for assualt.
You are correct but here in Arizona there is a 75 foot rule. And I believe she was okay in that respect and was just standing next to his opponent's sign passing out information - which is allowed at 75 feet or more. According to her interview he pulled his car right up to her, in fact while he was cutting up the sign she reached into his open car door and saw a pile of business cards and grabbed one. It was the jerk running for re election and as the car drove away she got the license plate - again registered to the jerk.
What is sad - he won re election too.
Now Sheriff Joe should go after HIM not us.
I agree that is why he is the Sheriff in your area because he is said to be hard on crime. He and the DA should charge this man with assualt and battery and possibly elderly abuse.
As long as she was in her 75 foot perimiter it is now the DA and Sheriff job to get this guy. If they go after him will enough people in his district sign up for a recall?

yes, MUCH faster, thanks. the last person you'd be waiting DAYS. and i usually had to send the post like 3-4x. then contact customer support and ask why the mod isnt approving it. that's a large part of the reason i havent been around. what's the point of being here if you cant even get your messages posted on the forum. im curious, why was the last person replaced? too many complaints? i sent at least a couple complaints.
anyway, i didnt look at it as trolling old posts. what does that mean anyway? i was reading the old posts and went back 4-5 pages which i do from time to time. i do that anywhere from once a month to maybe once a year. after the bust i was coming here a lot more, but it's becoming less and less again. so i wanted to see if i missed anything so i was going back and reading post titles. this one sounded interesting so i checked it out. that's the explanation for why i was on the thread 25 days later. today was the first time i'd read it.
as for why i called BS is cuz it sounds like total crap. having it reported on kpho or in the paper means nothing. i remember in college a girl who walked out of the woods saying she was tied up and etc. it was all over the tv and paper and, of course, it later came out she made the whole thing up. remember the doctor in scottsdale a few years ago that was having all sorts of $ trouble. he was found in the trunk of his car, saying he was abducted, yet he was cleanly shaven. it sure was big news. of course everyone pretty much knew it was bull shit... and it was.
i dont know what ever happened with this story but i sure never heard anything else about it so my guess is that it went nowhere. the vast majority of men in this world could take a sign from an 80yo lady without any problems. struggling for 2 minutes??? c'mon! then after being "assaulted" she walks up to the car and reaches inside??? uh-huh. all this at a polling place with tons of people around and no one saw the "struggle" or the "assault" and no one says or does anything? please.
