Several months ago I became aware that hew gals here in Southern California who had reviews posted on TER with Craigslist links ended up with a CityVibe ad they did not request and their TER profiles showing the CityVibe ad and not the CL link.

I raised the question on the General Discussion Board.  "Admin" responded.

I just noticed--to my surprise, frankly--a banner on this board for Backpage.com.  Without going into the merits of whether or not Backpage is a good place for hobbyists to shop, I'm wondering whether its a coincidence that many of our local providers have recently seen the texts of their ads and/or websites being posted as ads on Backpage (without their permission.)

The result has been that these providers have been getting aggressive calls from an entirely different class of hobbyists, and since the poachers aren't including info on the ladies' rates, they're having to deal with callers who think that the providers are available at Backpage-level pricing!

Anybody have any insights?

run on back page that I had no idea were there, until I started getting phone calls about my BP ad...

I think it was a copy and paste....the ad had no link to my website or email addy it was just my phone number.

so I was quite surprised and I never answered any questions regarding the ad....it kind a worried me.

Also both ads were posted at 2 am.

Thanks OC
Terri

I had to deal with a bout of it, but without naming names, I got the owner of Backpage's email addy and was able to Ban my name and phone number from ever appearing there again.

The phone number they offer to "Contact" them if you have an issue with advertising, I'm sure does not actually have a receiver plugged in on the other end. Ring.... Ring..... Ring..... Forever.

I'd be sad to see if there is a correlation just because it is a pain to deal with backpage callers etc, and TER is top notch.

My "coach" self was spending a month on the beach in Santa Monica (gift from Sugardaddy) so I missed the threads of First Class Providers and us coach ones. Now Backpage has a different class of hobbyists calling providers?

So much for TER hobbyists being a higher class than Backpage hobbyists.  What a low class statement. My coach self would take a backpage client anyday over a TER hobbyist who thinks he is better than  someone else. I have seen men from many sites and all classes of life. My Sugardaddy found me on Craigslist. Point is - all you coach girls - Sugardaddy's will find you no matter where you advertise. lol   Diana

Amen girl! I've met great gentlemen from a variety of places including TER, Backpage & CL... and I've met an occassional one who was 'less than gentlemanly' from ALL of them too!

Personally, I love variety!

Im not sure what ads your reading but your dropping 175-300+ after all the negotiations are done. ill grant thats a bit bigger than the range on certain other sites. However the competition leads to more flexability in choice and price point..

The place you find the person you want to see is pretty immaterial imo.

fake ads shouldn't be tolerated. i hope TER will discuss that issue with the Backpage management.

that said go |expletive deleted use your imagination| yourself for implying that because someone chooses to use someplace other than 411 that they are second class.
frankly i don't need to deal with the scheduling issues that go hand in hand with that site.

The ladies I've seen from both Backpage and Craigs are by and large sweet kind caring people who are trying to get by just like the ladies on any other site.

edited the whole tone of the op was just pretty insulting.

I was simply relaying complaints I've heard from providers, who have said that 1) their ads have been poached by Backpage, and 2) they have not cared to do business with the the callers being generated by those ads.

Additionally, my post said nothing about 411, nor did I say anything about providers who advertise on Backpage.  Since you brought it up, however, let me respectfully point out that there have been no stories in the media about LE focusing on providers listed on TER.  You certainly can't say the same for Backpage or Craigslist.  Those facts speak for themselves.

In addition, you candidly stated that the pricing for BP and CL girls is competitive "after all the negotiations are done".  Isn't the avoidance of "negotiations"--especially the kind that is really upselling--a fairly desirable thing?

Ter has indeed had its share of le attention. Just google it for yourself. No i really dont mind upsell during the initial discussion if it goes on after arrival i leave.

Some of the backpage ladies as well as craigs are flat rate, some arent do your homework and they work well enough.

implying that anyone using any other venue then the ones you choose are second class or rather "a different class" certainly implying a lesser state than your own is indeed worthy of disapproval.

I simply repeated what providers told me...that the callers generated by the poached Backpage ads were unpleasant and apparently looking for bargain sessions.  Don't leap from that statement into inferring that I look down on providers on Backpage.    Again, the providers who got the calls related to me how the callers those ads generated were generally a different class of caller.  It was their own actions and words, not the fact that they use Backpage, that made them a different class than these providers were used to hearing from.

Admittedly, I don't think BP or CL are good choices for advertisers or consumers, for the reasons previously stated.  I have the utmost respect, however, for ALL honorable and reputable providers who do good work, regardless of what they charge or where they advertise.

Advertising is an investment of time and money.  As in all investments it is important to diversify.  If you don't your customer base will not be as large as it should be.

Backpage can be an effective tool if used properly.

Well TER is advertising on Backpage also.  Here was the headline:

Maybe some collaboration is going on here.
