END OF MESSAGE

Uh is it just me or is that particular website um bogus?  I ran a few cell  #'s thru there and I got some flash animation zooming in on some unknown city then some gay porn?  On the other hand I don't doubt the technology exists in some format or another, but you can disable GPS on some phones if not most.  LE can still track you in an emergency, but I'm not sure if they're allowed to do so otherwise.

I used to work for a subcontractor for a major cell phone network until this fall.  We provided GPS and driving directions to some markets, but during the test runs my experience was that it wasn't very reliable.  Seems we were lucky if we could lock most phones down to 2000ft and more usual the area was closer to a mile or two.  Definately something to be concerned about for the future, but I'm not sure about for today.

Oh forgot to mention if you're really worried about services like this for the time being, just turn your phone off.  Should prevent the GPS from locating you if it's not transmitting a carrier signal.  Not 100% sure on that but 99.5% sure.

Went to a link for phonetrace.org stating that employers and spouses are able to check up on a person because of the GPS in most cell phones.
Thankfully I have a mac so I'm not terribly worried about being spied upon by spyware, but I wonder why the link went to gay porn for the rest of you folks!

The site goes to gay porn if you try and initiate a number search...

It is an icredibly unsettling experience to say the least.
