Will You Agree To Show Your Pic Id To Provider?

I don't think it is reasonable to require a hobbyist to show his picture ID to anyone. What will that accomplish? So much for anonymity.

"I'll show you mine, if you'll show me yours."

That's the response I give when asked to show my ID.   Needless to say, I've never see a provider's ID.  But, they've never seen mine either.   That's what references and P411 are for.

What's the point? How is safety enhanced by having that knowledge? Aren't referrals the better indicator?
