Only a matter of time before TER and Backpage come down. What do you think LE is going to do with all their new found time?

bp yes.  I could see that.  They are selling bicycles and daycare on there to the right of "us'.

TER, I don't believe so.  This is for hobbyists.  Yes, anyone can view - but as stated above, none of the age groups are going to get all mixed up...

At least, those are my thoughts,

Jazz

from the federal government and from private organizations to fight human trafficking and the exploitation of women and children.

with craigslist gone, they need new witches to hunt or they might stop getting those millions of dollars... .
they certainly aren't going to stop now that they've tasted blood.

craigslist just threw us all to the wolves.

backpage would be the logical next site to get burned, but if they go down, will these "advocates" pat themselves on the back for a job well done and disband their organization and say "oh no need for those millions of dollars anymore.. ... those bad bad websites are all gone now"

this has nothing to do with children or society's values or women being exploited.
the fact that this site is only for the industry isnt going to matter when there are millions of dollars at stake.

the only way ter, and eros, etc will be saved from the fire, is if craigslist or backpage wins the fight and i really don't think backpage stands a chance.

i'm also not convinced that craigslist lost it yet. ...those boys are pretty smart and this project was never about money for them so i dont see them giving it up.  if they were really planning on getting rid of the section, it would be gone.... and it's not.

access to the section is gone. . but it's still there... and it's highlighted.

its all speculation because craigslist hasnt actually said a word about it yet.
dont you think they would announce that they were removing that section ?
surely, after the years of harassment, craigslist would want to say "ok stfu, its gone,  are you happy now, can you please leave us alone now ?"

i think craigslist has game.
i predict a spankdown with craiglist on top.

if not, the rest of the sites will be easy peezy to take down... all of them.
craigslist is the only website that actually worked with law enforcement to identify traffickers, the only website that manually approved every ad before posting it, the only website that donated revenue to help fund anti-trafficking organizations, the only website that requred a real credit card for payment, the only website that required telephone confirmation.

if they can't win, how the hell will any other escort ad site win ?
i dont know. . i see craigslist as the giant protecting the rest of the village.

TER is offshore, so is Fulltilt and Pokerstars. LE hasn't been to successful shutting down offshore online gambling poker.

"Only a matter of time" — If you take more than a cursory look at the outside, it is evident that CL is not the "FIRST DOMINO" to all the places that providers advertise.

Hell, the "Domino Effect" isn't even applicable with LE! Did Waco lead to the end of militia groups? Not even with the Oklahoma City bombing following it.  Did busting up the Cosa Nostra lead to the end of organized crime control of street prostitution and drug distribution? Nah! Hells Angels stepped up to the task. Followed by street gangs. THIS is only ads for massages and company.

Seriously, don't take a "the sky is falling" alarmist and pessimistic view of stuff like this.

More importantly, pay attention to what happened. LE did not shut CL down. LE did not even close the adult catagory. CL VOLUNTARILY responded to LE PRESSURE, not COURT ORDER. Big difference. BIG. Not only that, CL is not done with the matter.

"not necessarily..."  —  "bp yes.  I could see that.  They are selling bicycles and daycare on there to the right of "us'." That is a very astute correlation Jazz. That is one of the factors that caused CL to be the LE/MEDIA whipping boy.

Here's the reason why that is not likely to move to BP:  CL is a little company, a one-of-a-kind company with no one to band together with, and no media clout.

BP on the other hand IS THE MEDIA itself! -- it is the online classified section of a string of weekly newspapers owned by Village Voice Media. They have been joined by a national association of like newspapers in fighting LEs attacts on them for exposing questionable LE practices.

Couple years back AG Thomas tried to link them to the DD bust and as a conspirator because they pulished ads like they do now. That went nowhere fast; partly because the AZ Republic published those same DD ads. Newspapers all over the country publish those kinds of ads!

So if that's the case, why haven't the newpaper print media bandied around CL to defend them??? Simple economics, and retribution. CL is NOT A MEDIA company, and they single handedly crippled the revenue stream for every newspaper in the country in the cities where CL has a local post.  Newpapers are not going to jump in and protect the little company that upset the apple cart for them.

On top of that CL is no part of the political election machine. Newspapers how ever...

Now, just wait and see what happens IF an AG or two has the righ combination of cahones and magical thinking and decides to rile up a newpaper on the constitionally (yes the US constitution) shaky premise of holding the publishing media responsible for the results of someone's advertisement for whom they published.

This whole thing with CL  was not about stopping crime or even curbing prostitution. It is PURE political opportunism.
