We all have our families, friends to celebrate Christmas. But I want to let you ATF's know how much mental attention you get, even as we do the traditional. You are such joy in our lives, even though it's impossible to be with you. Many of you have families and loved ones too. To all of you, together or specifically alone, you too are loved. If the world was different, many of us guys would choose to be with you, treasure you with gifts and love. It may not be sufficient to supplicate your aloneness, but be aware that through all our celebrations we are thinking of you, sending our psychic love thougts your way, wishing we could be with you. If you get a surprising warmth, know it is one of us. Merry Christmas in absentia.
While I think this comment is a quite noble sentiment and is well intended - there was an aspect that hit me wrong: "It may not be sufficient to supplicate your aloneness, but be aware that through all our celebrations we are thinking of you..."
It seems a little like providers are assumed to be lonely, just sitting around waiting for the hobbyist to call, and “oh-boy!” would they love to be in place of the wife or significant other.
Ehhhh… probably not so much.
I don’t know… I don’t mean to be a negative - just remember, “judge not; lest ye be judged”… and don’t “assume”… it only makes an “ass” of “you” and “me”. And maybe I’m doing both??
Anyhow, I think the meaning was genuine and thoughtful – just wanted any providers who may have been a bit put off by the under-lying sub-text to know, we might really care out here, but may not always express it in the most optimal fashion.
That said - Wishing everyone a Happy Holiday Season and Happy 2008.
