Anyone who knows me has a pretty good idea that I'm strongly "indie" driven and am not bashful about praising my favorites (in public or private). But when I look back at the last year I'm amazed just how much the agencies have added to my "fun meter". For a guy who historically is truely "anti-agency" thats saying an awful lot.
So if you've been like me and had the "wagons circled" against them I'd strongly suggest giving any one of the reputable agencies a try. They are remarkably well run, have plenty of adorable gals and excellent facilities available.
Maybe I'm missing out on a great thing. Personally I think the Indie's offer a more personal touch. The agencies appear to be more business driven.
The Indie's have treated me well, and I hope the providers say the same thing about me. I always try to be courteous, and treat them as I would like to be treated if our roles were reversed. Its the way I was brought up, and stress this to not only my children, but mid-level managers, and associates working under me. Whether I'm right or wrong thats me.
When I read about other hobbyists going to agency incall locations where other hobbyists are coming, and going during their stay, well it just doesn't sit well with me.
...and it took you two years and some bickering to finally give in and see someone from my agency. Glad you are seeing the benefit and have realized that we aren't all bad!
I've lived many places... We've got the best agencies AND providers, hands down. Thanks to all (and a special nod to you Taylor) that took such good care of us!
..with Hacker. I'm generally an "Indy-guy," rather than one who uss agencies, but my experiences with the fabulous Paris of TLC and both Payton and Calli of AzMystique have been all I had hoped for, and more. My experiences are not as diverse as Hacker, and I haven't even tried the other Agencies, but am looking forward to meeting them at next week's get-together.
For all agencies. In my opinion a good agency is really where you learn alot of the profession I hope everyone has a good time. It's too bad that I will be in cali xoxo Sabrina
Historically you and I share the same gneral viewpoint. I'm not implying that agencies are "better"...just that they've made great strides toward leveling the playing field. Most of the great indies (not all) started with agencies so the "talent" has always been there.
Over the last few years agency prices have come down while independent pricing has soared....so the economic playing field is a bit more level. Without question Independents retain the edge on "personal service" but any business model is driven my the force vectors specific to the market. The tremendous quality of the indie market has actually forced the agencies to "raise their game"....and they have. At the same time the old truism "there good till their not" still drives the indie market at large.
I agree completely with youcompletely with regard to respect and common courtesy. Let me ask you a question.
By lumping all agency providers togeather aren't you losing sight of them as individuals?
Read soliels reviews if they are still around...truely sorry I missed her...from all accounts she was every bit as good as any independent in town.
My personal preference will always be on the "indie" side...but I was brought up to give credit where credit is due...
