that in our community we can not have the latter. My sense is ,that we are  adults and can  carry on a conversation with opposing views without the vitriol, the body slams , the disrespect, the lack of any understanding of a differing viewpoint. I , for one , enjoy being part of this community. I have made some incredible friends on both sides of the gender line.
All to often I think we act like a dysfuntional family and not like a group that has common hopes/desires. At the end of the day, I look back and see if I have made a difference in someones life and whether I have been touched similarly. Believe me, I do at times feel enamored with drama, I only submit to the group that there is a better way to communicate our differences.  I will admit to being functionally dysfunctional and have learned to get through life with that acceptance as well as discovering that I am not universally liked nor do I like everybody. We have a wide variety of choices , something for everyone as it were. I do hope we can enter into discourse and leave the diatribe to lesser life forms. Thanks for the forum.

The problems are caused from several factors:

(A) Some of us may have grown up in dysfunctional families and this is how they think a family acts.

(B) Some of may have poor Internet communication skills.

(C) Some of us may be frustrated, tired, angry, depressed or irritated when they write or read posts on this forum.

It doesn;t bother me that some people may be shilling for others - every time I watch a film there are product placements these days. I expect to see Clinton, Obama or McCain drink a Pepsi or a Coke on camera at a campaign event one of these days.

i've never understood how being a white knight ever became a bad thing when this is the kind of man that women dream of.. . it would be nice if we had a white knight of the year award, the winner getting a free pass to hobby all year free of charge.  i wouldnt hesitate to donate a session to such a cause and without a doubt, 85003, you'd have my vote.

I agree that discourse would be vastly preferable to diatribe.  I have long felt that the sophmoreic behavior on this board is why I rarely check in.  Too many other things to do with valuable time.
