Unfortunately, as the TER disclaimer states, the postings are protected under US LAW, and the site registration process is US based, and anyone who uses a credit card for membership is handled in the US, and the site has been brought down in the past due to confiscation of records... clearly, there is US jurisdiction.
No pissing match. A DISCUSSION BOARD is used to discuss issues important to the members of the board. To shoot down a QUESTION, seems to me like propaganda, and incomplete information makes the members unsafe. Anyone who has information that keeps the community safe is a valued member of the Board, and I welcome the courteous discourse.
But of course this is all fictional, and for entertainment purposes only... I, for one, do not plan to spend my fictional holidays in Joe's fictional tents.
I'm not a big fan of CL, but I was looking around the other day, and saw a post that said Sherrif Joe was looking to get the TER List to pursue something... Did anyone see the post(s) as there have been several? Any official word from our moderator?
When's the last time you obtained valid, accurate information about an otherwise-secret LE operation on CL? PUHHLEASE!! Joe and Andy screwed up in a big, public way with their last subpoenas. I doubt they're going to risk another PR nightmare going up against an out-of-state operation like TER.
Furthermore, TER is run by a corporation based in the Netherlands. Its servers and records are all stored there. They have a rather large L.A. law firm on retainer, and that firm designed TER's legal structure and has successfully defended previous attempts to pierce it.
On top of that, TER only contains fictional accounts and allows people to role-play on the chat boards. None of this is real.
This is true! Sheriff Joe can't afford another public screw-up this close to an election year. At this point his minions will focus on high probability arrests to help repair any perceived damage to his public image.
Given Joe's ambitions you can bet his troops are out trying to find high visibility suspects. The higher the profile the more likely Joe can get his face plastered on the local and network news. Don't forget Sheriff Joe has aspirations to one day become Governor Joe.
