Life's Stage

Are we only players upon this stage?
Destined to improvise our lives, waiting for
A curtain call to applause few ever hear
With a backdrop made of struggle and age.

As the acts change to the next, we value much
Those things which are only decoration and props,
Money and cars, clothes and fame.
But what of a summer's day? A lover's touch?

To an audience of angels and ghosts we entertain
Until one day we join them while others remain.
