Hi Ladies & Gents,

It's my first time in Philly and I always like to take a day on my own time to visit some of the local sights. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a great show that I might want to see, preferably a local artist or theatre company as I noticed there were a lot of options when I googled it and I really wasn't sure what had a local influence or flavour.
Any and all suggestions welcome, feel free to post, email or PM.

Thank you,
Kyra

The Rodin Museum in Philadelphia is one of the greatest collections of his work in the world, if you're into that sort of thing.

If you're into archaeology at all, the University Museum at University of Pennsylvania is top-notch.

The Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Franklin Institute are also world class museums.

Sorry, I'm not into theatre, so I can't help you there.

Hi Kyra,

The Van Gogh Up Close exhibit begins today at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.  Tickets around $30.

For anything local try Old City and Northern Liberties.

Have fun!

Don't forget the Mutter Museum, if you are into that.  Albert Einstein's brain is currently on exhibit!

I love Rodin and the nerd in me has made the Mutter museum a must see. I mean who wouldn't want a souvenir photograph with Einsteins amygdala? :D
Several people have PM'd about the Art Museum (thanks) so I am hoping to fit it in as well.

I will say this I am really surprised how much there is to do in this city, I am not sure who handles the city marketing & tourism campaigns but I hope they focus on it (and the Canadian market). I had no idea the city had so many galleries and exhibits and some very impressive permanent collections, if I knew about the Rodins I probably would have come years ago as it's a lot cheaper than going to Paris. I am really enjoying the city, the nice weather helps too, so nice of you to arrange it for me. ;)
