I did get a new phone, finally.  Neat thing called a Dash and I think I'll like it.  I did ask customer service if there was some sort of way to back up my numbers.  I was told there are some thoughts in the works but nothing available as of yet that is, as you say, universal.  I paid $250 for the device but would've paid the same just to get the numbers that were in it.

I couldn't even remember my dad's cell number off the top of my head.  So sad, I had to look at my online billing records to be sure.

If you need to contact me, please do so via email. I am purchasing a new phone today and will have the same phone number as soon as they can activate the new device.

what is totally madening about it is not the loss of the phone but the loss of #s!  I truly wish that the makers of phones would creat a universal USB interface and link such that you could easily update your address book on the phone and store the #s in a safe place... to replace if you loose your phone!  yea, there are some programs out there, but they are not universal - nor are they easy to use.
