You schedule a appointment with a provider and they ask you to call an hour before you are to arrive. You call, get voice mail, leave a message, and you do not get a response in return. You call 30 minutes later and leave another message.........no response.
You subsquently call a third time and again no response.
It was my understanding courtesy is an important ingredient in this hobby. Why is it that certain providers think they can be non chalant and not give a damn.
I think it not appropriate to tattle on this certain provider but it has been sevral days and no phone call or apology was extended.
Unfortunately, that has happened to all of us. Even by well reviewed providers. Many of us would understand that "sh*t" happens, so it's mostly the complete cut-off of an explanation that is rude. Flip side being, when a work emergency happens to interfere wirh the hobby, some forget that for most, work is what allows us to participate in the hobby in the first place. anyway my $0.02.
I've been trying to see a WELL-KNOWN and WELL-REVIEWED provider from Philly when she visits my area on occasion. Every indication was that we were gonna meet, then BAM she completely drops off all communication literally an hour before our scheduled time. This was a month ago, and I'm STILL waiting for a reply...
The same thing happened to me with Shane today. I could not believe it, I booked the hotel and at the last second no response , no nothing. Was very suprised since I saw her before and it went well!!!!
I am sure there are many reliable indie out there, but my experience has been bad. About 50% of time when I booked indie, regardless of their reputation, the appointment didn't go through. It's a total waste of my time and pumped up anticipation.
Many indie post ads to see how many appointments they can get. If they don't get enough quota, they don't show up. The good ones at least have the courtesy to call for cancellation with excuses, the bad ones don't bother.
In real work, one no show no call is sufficient for diciplinary action or termination. But indie run their own biz and can't fire themselves for bad work ethic.
This is why I no longer deal with indie, and only book through reputable agencies which I can count on screening out unreliable providers. There are bad agencies out there too that are unreliable and run B&S scam, but I don't deal with them either.
I am not sure if NCNS is a national phenomenon or unique to Philly. Lately, Philly is proliferated with indie and complaints like this came up more frequently.
There are investment risks in all biz. A biz has to operate even on days it makes no profit. Many indie don't take risks and don't commit to the trip until the last minutes to make sure they get enough appointments. Some are just irresponsible and don't honor the appointments at will. The risk is transferred to the clients who often took time off and wasted their time for no show.
I miss the old days when Philly is dotted with brothel houses. You called the house and appointment was guarantteed. Today, we have more choices but more risks of B&S and no show.
For consumer protection, you ought to post her name. I am hearing more complaints but few actions. Philly is becoming the capital of unreliable and B&S providers. Everyone should report NCNS and bad experience; otherwise, you are endorsing bad biz practices.
For as long as I've been playing in this hobby (over 25 years) I've encountered numerous instances of being stood up with either little or no explanation. I understand the frustration of it but I also understand that sometimes shit just happens. I'm not saying that anybody is unjustified in their irritation or aggravation but you have to keep it all in perspective. I mean, it's not as if we're getting married or signing 30-year mortgages. There are plenty of options out there in the hobby.
Also, it seems that LE has been even more vigilant and creative in recent weeks. Perhaps this could also account for what seems to be an incline in NCNS lately? Maybe the ladies are feeling a bit more apprehensive or nervous if there is even the slightest inkling of something not feeling right. Just my input.
I did try to accodate with this gent. I did book a room. The front desk guy made me very nervous, telling me I needed to turn on a switch to activate the phone and tv. I never heard of that.
As my client knew I didn't think he had anything to do with it, but I just didn't feel right.
He could have understood.
I also told him I would give a discount for my mistake. I did make up the problem AND he agreed to meet with me.
I don't normally stand anyone up, but I just didn't feel safe with all the busts in the area. IT DOES HAPPEN.
AND for all of us, is it worth it? I also lost money that day for booking a room a couldn't use.
NCNS sucks, and rudeness to the customer has been the rule of thumb here. While I'm not saying you owe any of us, it would be nice to know who is going to waste your time. Time away is the most valuable commodity for me.
then you're not booking reputable providers. Plain & simple. I for one do not do this and agree that it's terrrible work ethics. I ever I do cancel, which is rare, I do explain the reason why. I believe there are plenty others like me I guess you pick the wrong ones. Sorry that you've choosen only to deal with agencies.
