...That's how WRONG I was about Game 3. I really felt the Phils would put two or three on the board in the first inning and lay one on the Brewers while they were still down from Game 2. Boy, did I miss the mark, as it was Milwaukee who put up the early runs. The Phils "hitters" (I use the term very loosely these days) made Bush look like vintage Greg Maddux and when they did threaten they came away with nothing. Let's hope that these guys remember TODAY what to do with a piece of wood in their hands when runners are in scoring position, because I'm not so sure that Joe Blanton will deliver a performance like Hamels or Myers.
The Phillies have not been hitting well nor moving runners along; the Dodgers have me worried. They have played well since Manny arrived. I wouold have preferred Chicago.
I think it's a good matchup for the Phils. The Dodgers do not have any left-handed starters on the mound, and though I think the pitching is actually a toss-up, the Phils on the whole are a better balanced team offensively and are also better defensively. I see the Phils in the World Series, though it certainly will not be easy. It would help if Chase Utley & Ryan Howard start to heat up in the batter's box.
I assume you know the Dodgers have the best manager in MLB today, and without doubt in the top 10 all time. I cannot forgive the stupid, idiotic, arrogant, shit for brains, fucking moronic asshole Steinbrenner s George and the dip shit boys Hal and Hank for insulting Joe Torre and letting him leave . The playoff picture may have been very different.
Lifetime Yankee fan here...back to the days of Casey, Whitey and "The Mick." For the record, I even pull for the Mets...but am not a Phillie hater; in fact I like that team.
Dodgers have 2 BIG things going for them right now. Manny. Love him or hate him, he's a HOF'er, and shows up for the big games. I've seen him kill my Yanks way too many times to take this guy lightly. As for Torre, there hasn't been a better baseball manager in my lifetime. You can mention Sparky and his Reds, Dick Williams and the A's and all the rest, but Joe went to the Show 13 years in a row, running his team in a madhouse environment...George and his kids don't make things easier, despite their penchant for spending the $$$. Just ask Lou and Yogi. The guy holds his teams together, and adds a really tough intangible to the Dodgers. But I'm writing this most of all to say what a total asshole Hank is for insulting this guy and letting him go West.
And now that that's done: Go Phillies!!! I'd love to see the local team take it all the way.
