Best places are just a little south of Center City but not far Camille. Several options for you. Jims at 4th st & South St is great. Dont know if you have ever been to our South St. area but its ripe with culture, shops, cool, small unique bars where the younger hipper set hangs out. Jims is a cultural icon there. If you want something a little more "earthy" and where their is a battle of two rival places drectly across the street from each other, head a little further south to the corner of 9th & Passyunk where you'll find Pats Steaks on one side and Genos Steaks on the other. Be prepared to wait in a long line at either place, but the lines move fast. And one of the best thing about our cheese steaks is that they are calorie free! And make sure you order them correctly Camille. All you need to say to the man taking your order is "Wiz, wit". Seriously! (It means cheese steak with onions!) Enjoy!
That place always smells like BO when I walk by it. Kind of greasy. Good but not the best.
Both Geno's and Pat's are classics. A really tasty one that you have to drive to is D'Alessandro's in Manayunk. They also have pretty good veggie steaks!
When it comes to food in Philadelphia I am very opinionated.
If you are sticking to CC, you can't go wrong with Jim's. If you bother to venture to south Philly, skip Pat's and Geno's and go to John's (14 Snyder Ave) or Tony Lukes (Oregon Ave).
Gooey Looies is worth a trip, and has been honored as "Best of Philly"Cheese steak by Philadelphia Magazine at least 3 times for their quality, and size. Biggest, freshest, and best tasting in town. Geno's and Pat's suck. Avoid them. See link below for the best in town & address:
John's Roast Pork at 14 Snyder Avenue is prolly the best, but it closes in mid-afternoon. It's out of the way, but if you want "good" then it's the place to go.
And really, isn't a good hot roast pork sandwich with sharp provolone and broccoli rabe better than a cheesesteak? Sure it is.
I like Tony Luke's but it isn't in center city- on Front and Oregon not far from the sports complex

...I mean within 2,000-2,500 calories, give or take, pending condiments of course! And btw, your name is awfully familiar. I know it from somewhere...hmmmmm......lol
Yes, really. CC was the question. Camille, South street is tacky and ghetto but some great sex shops.
I'm very opinionated as well. Better opinion, btw.

Alexandra Marie: D'Allesandros has gone downhill after it was sold. Maybe its my prejudice but the cheesesteaks aren't up to snuff of the prior owner. Geno's and Pat's, generic at best, you mostly go for the ambiance. Veggie cheesesteaks, it ain't a cheesesteak? All this is humbly my opinion as a 20 year Philadelphian.
As for you Alexandra, we've never tangoed but you as exquisite as a lady as I've gandered in Philadelphia.

Love it when girls say they are classy. It means they aren't classy at all. LOL. Jealous of who? I don't even know who you are or anything about you. Guys like you more? LOL. Yeah, ok.
