This place rocked (in my opinion) during the late 80's and early 90's. I have not been there since that time. I hear, however, that the Retreat is still open. Any reports as to what the story is these days? Any information will be greatly appreciated.
The place changed hands many times under different names. Now it restores the old name but obviously with different management. I was there once in the late 1990's when the place was running down. It was one of several non-AMP brothels available at that time and not a favorate one for me to return.
My concern visiting this place is that it is located off a very busy street, and right next to the backdoor of a restuarent where the guys are taking smoke break out there all the time.
I don't remember where I read a review of the place somewhere lately.
Funny this topic should come up just now. I was thinking of posting the same question, having just driven down Ludlow last week and seeing the 1800 and 1812 signs still up.
When I worked downtown, the logistics could not have been simpler. Back then, 1800 was a pit. The only time I was there, I was invited to lie on the floor in a decidedly subpar room. I left.
1812 defined the AMP for me. Very reasonable and many of the ladies were pretty cute. Somehow seems like another phase of my life now.
Yes that does seem like another era, when there were many walk-in, no appointment, incall places. I too made the rounds back then but never went to GR because I heard it was just a HJ place, not FS. I remember they always had a big ad in the adult papers showing lots of attractive Caucasian girls.
I think I first visited Gentlemens Retreat at 18th and Ludlow back in the mid 80's. The girls would come in one at a time and introduce themselves. You'd pick the one you wanted. 50 to the house and a 100 tip got you FS. No kissing and only a CBJ. A few years ago I decided to see if they were still there. I rang the bell and to my suprise it is now an all Asian place. Table shower, the massage...and an Asian girl who doesn't speak much english. The old Gentlemens Retreat seems to have gone the way of the full bush. It's extint.
GR circa 1997 is where I popped my hobbying cherry with a long-legged blonde who called herself Las Vegas Jackie. Even then there were some hot girls there, but things went downhill after several busts occurred in the late 90s.
Those were the glory days. I remember that GR and Chic2 were my favorite incal brothels during the mid and late 80's. A hostess would invite me to a private room. Then all the girls would come in and introduce themselves to me. The girls were all hot and almost everything was on the menue. GR had a 50 dollar door fee and the hostess would get a 100 dollar tip. Chic2 was a flat 75 dollar fee for everything. This was heaven for me being a young guy starting out. GR had king size beds in every room. Then on one vist to GR, the beds were removed and exercise equipment was in the rooms. I guess this was the result of the first rade.
