If I owned TER I would put more resources into speeding up the approval process of reviews so they can be timely...may providers visit a city for only a few days and their reviews appear after they are long gone.
Everyone has things they like and dislike about TER and other hobby websites. No hobby website is perfect! So you think you can do better? Here’s your chance.
Suppose you could be Staff for 6-12 months. What changes would you make to TER?
What would you keep?
What would you throw away?
What new features/policies would you add?
I don’t want this to be an “I love/hate TER because” thread. Let’s try to be serious about this. If you’ve got a good idea, throw it out there. Maybe Staff will hear you.
Please try to back up your POV with some practical suggestions. Instead of just writing, “I hate this feature” and leaving it at that, post a possible solution.
I’m inviting the members of the other TER boards that I moderate, Boston, Carolinas and New York. Hopefully, we’ll attract members from other TER communities as well.
Let’s go!
thirsty
Let the threads with new posts show up at the top, so discussions don't end when a message moves to page 2.
Providers will post their ad once and then they (or their fans) will reply to ad every day to keep the thread on page 1. Have you ever seen message boards where threads are filled with "bump" replies?
thirsty
It has it's good points, but it can get to be a pain in the ass too just for the reason you mentioned. Usually what ends up happening is that ladies will have to "lock" their schedule type posts to keep guys from doing that.
Plus, I don't know what type of changes this platform will accept.
A slightly different approach might be to try going back to the longer pages on the regional boards. About 6 or 8 months ago all the regional boards became "shorter", meaning that posts now fall off the first page faster then they did before.
That can be a drag sometimes, especially on an active board like New York.
It's easy to page back, but part of the trouble with doing so is that once a thread drops to another page it loses the color change that you get if you have already read it, so a quick scan once it's on the 2nd page to see if anything new has been posted to it is just about impossible.
Going back to the longer page set up may help in this area.
-- Modified on 6/26/2005 4:14:13 AM
Some rules could prevent that...
1. Boring bump posts forbidden. Only ones with real content allowed.
2. No replies allowed to schedule announcements.
3. Have 2 separate boards for each region. 1 for chat that functions as I suggested, and 1 for schedule posts and ISO's which functions the way things currently are.
Just some ideas.
The number of boards are limited in their geographical areas...there seem to be entire areas missed. For example the other site has a board for each state. If I hear that a provider is arriving from a particular area that is not covered by this site I cannot check them out without going to your competition.
If I owned TER I would put more resources into speeding up the approval process of reviews so they can be timely...may providers visit a city for only a few days and their reviews appear after they are long gone.
But we both know that, within reason, a visator may get a mini-review. That means that a person can say thier experience..be it good or bad or otherwise.
I do agree with you but let me share this.
I am in DC. The next day a review of me in DC goes up. Not because he has "Pull" with TER but because he seems to have figured out how it works. (see Ponzone in DC under my reviews).
So, that being stated, it is rather possible that if you have reviews in que, as he stated, that they can go up.
But, I still do not discount the mini-review system. I did not know about it until I had left NYC.
Food for stalking? hehehehehe

I love your guts sweetie
but I must disagree. I have oodles of reviews, and the last 3 have taken about a week to get posted. This is not fair to a traveling provider like yourself. This is one thing I hope TER changes fast.
I agree entirely. My last review seemed like it took at least 4 days to approve.
I agree with AngieRenee that mini-reviews are adequate for getting out timely information on visiting providers. Full reviews are normaly up in 2 working days. Also, it is good to have time to edit before the review posts. Mosts of my reviews have been revised after initial type-in.

Bwhahahaa...I go mad with power...even if it is only hypothectical.
Some of the things I would change about TER given the chance:
Reviewed providers would get VIP days, the reviews are about them so they should be able to read them in their entirety, without having to pay to do so or go searching for problems to report to earn days.
Messages with new replies would move to the top of the page, with the ability to "lock" threads that are simply flame wars, or ads, or where no useful help or conversation is taking place but simply being bumped for the sake of being bumped.
Posts would immediately appear and moderation would be on the back end...the mods have to read all the moderated posts before they appear, and all the unmoderated posts anyway so this wouldn't actually add to the workload, posts that asked the same question as a previous post would be consolidated into the earlier thread.
There would be moderators and mod tools in chat.
There would be a page of the FAQs and abbreviations, and perhaps some articles on how to use the search functions, and other helpful advice about this site and the "Hobby" in general.
The use of aliases would be limited to one alias per user, still allowing for the anonymity provided by an alias without it being overused...personally I would rather get rid of them altogether, but I can understand why some use them...so it would be limited but maintained.
Ok..so, that's the first things that came to mind as to what I would change.
First I have to say I love the damn handle..geezzz if I had thought of it first. ![]()
"Reviewed providers would get VIP days, the reviews are about them so they should be able to read them in their entirety, without having to pay to do so or go searching for problems to report to earn days."
I pay as a provider. Why, I am trying to ass-ertain at this point. I know people are writing about me but there are many people who have decided that relying on their friends to send them the review is ok. I think it is insane yet the sanest thing to do.
I know what I do in my sessions and I know the people I meet because it is small and selective population.
Overall, I do agree that making providers pay for memebrship is rather silly.
Thanks for bringing up this very good and well thought out point.

I have several aliases but would not mind going down to one. The recent trend is for people to use aliases to hide their prejudices and hatreds. This sucks, they should be forced to post under their main handle or not at all.
I agree that providers that are members of TER and get reviewed should share the VIP days that come with the review, the provider gets 5 free VIP days and the hobbyists that wrote the review get 10 free VIP days. Either that or eliminate VIP days for reviews altoghether.
Good idea in theory but the horse has left the barn on that one. IMHO, if you remove or limit the alias feature, you will just have more people with multiple usernames.
Still you're right in one sense. Forcing people to create and maintain multiple accounts will end up being too much trouble for many. When it comes right down to it, you can't eliminate many of the abuses like overuse of aliases or creating multiple accounts for the purpose of writing false reviews (Hello Mr.Boner
but you can probably make it much more of a hassle to do these things and maybe that alone will reduce some of the abuses.

One aspect of hobbying is the legal angle and we have that covered with 'Legal Corner' ...
Sooo ... what about a 'Medical Corner'...?
as a hobbyist/MD, I would LOVE to contribute ...
Time and again, the same old Qs are asked: how safe are BBBJs, DATYs, etc ... and sometimes a sincere question is buried under tons of 'gimme a break' kind of replies: understandably so, as it would have been the 1000th time that the same darn Q is asked ...
a Medical Corner MAY help in this regard?
I am sure there are other MDs here ... what do they feel about this?
also:
sometimes providers/clients want to use aliases while asking medical Qs.
I answer them in a rather general way - but I want to know specifics. can MY alias be made PMable? i would love to help and answer Qs privately (alias to alias?) if this feature can be enabled.
I would ABSOLUTELY keep all such 'private consultations' private.
I, personally, will want zipzeronada in return as I feel I just want to give back to a community that has helped me immensely.
thoughts?
A medical board would complete this site, IMO. As many questions about the medical consequences seems to pop up as often as those about the legal consequences.
a workaround to the problem.
You would have to be somewhat skeptical of any advice that you read on an expert board (Legal, Medical and so on) that may appear on a site like this. All of the information that appears on these boards comes from the membership not from employees of the board/website. What I'm leading to is the scenario, "I'm not a doctor but I play one on the Internet." ![]()
thirsty
couple of things:
1. true. 'advice' from an 'expert' board should be taken with skepticism in the TER.
well,
if a 'Legal Corner' can STILL exist under THIS premise, ('take it for what it's worth; dont take my word for it, ask your local IRL 'expert' for details'),
then why can't a 'Medical Corner'?
atleast 'Medical and Medically related Questions' can be answered seriously (if they were asked in a serious vein) in a 'Medical Corner' ... there WILL be a place for a concerned provider/client to go look for advice (or atleast a 'pointer' in the right direction) instead of getting pulverised in the 'General discussion' board.
2. as far as MY personal credentials: i dont know if you, thirsty, can see who THIS is (me here ... lol). some providers have my personal info (given for verification purposes) and would be able to vouch for me. (they may not have these with them right NOW, but they would have SURELY had them when i saw them the FIRST time, and established that i was an MD). I truly hope due to discretion that it wont come to THAT. (are Lawyers asked to prove their credentials prior to posting in the Legal Corner?)
bottom line: IF the 'Legal Corner' has been useful to the people here, i feel that a 'Medical Corner' would be as useful.
for the FIRST time, i actually looked up the 'Legal Corner': the disclaimer that heads the discussion seems to cover all 'problems' ... wouldn't a similar 'disclaimer' be sufficient in the hypothetical 'Medical Corner'?
PS: there are quite a few clients and providers alike who are rather wary about talking to their IRL MD. wouldnt THIS be a venue where the initial reticence about 'what they do for work/play' is taken as a given, and the 'discussion' could proceed more amicably? ...
i dont know ... i am just offering this as a help. surprisingly, there hasnt been a great response from the members!. (maybe they are ALL lurking .. lol!)
PPS: Chrissy, thanks SO very much for offering to help. that was awesome of you. wish i could meet you. checked your website and reviews ... beautiful!!!
I have my BS in Nursing plus a master's--would be happy to help out if someone wanted a female's opinion on a medical matter.

so that we can search electronicaly from the entire database for keywords i.e. deepthroat...flexible...swallows...or whatever comes to mind.

I agree with all of the above...such as free VIP for reviewed providers, medical corner, keeping threads current while locking in ads, and keyword search for reviews. I also think a keyword search for Private Mail would be helpful too. And definately a Ladies Board, just for us providers. ![]()
Carissa, would you also like to see a hobbyist board for Hobbyists Only???
I would like to search on NOT this or that. For example, NOT Fat, NOT heavy body types, etc. Or be able to search on multiple body types such as thin, average, athletic, etc. Same with other search fields such as ethnicity.
of the review. If you do not select a characteristic for a category, you get all reviews for that category now. As I read it, you want to be able to select say Asians, Hispanics (ethnic group) with the same search that you select athletic and thin (body types) along with brunettes and redheds (hair color).
Yes, pretty much the idea. Or I would like to exclude certain attributes of categories, like fat or heavy women. No offense to those women as they do it for some, just not myself.
Agree with this idea; perhaps the ability to select multiple features would solve the problem. There are ranges already available for height and age, but that would not really work with body type or race....
There are a few enhancements that I think would be nice and they are:
1) It would be nice that when subitting a review for a provider who already has a profile on TER, the profile form is filled up automatically base on the provider's profile. To do so, a "review this provider" button can be added to each provider's profile. When clicked, the current "submit review" form will appear with the profile fields filled up. Then, the reviwer can change any information when necessary.
2) Rating for reviews. For each review, each member can vote it is helpful or not. Or, give the review a rating base on a 1 to 10 scale. Then, the rating will be shown along the review. By doing so, the members can "vote out" the fake reviews. Also, it gives a sense about the quality of the reviews from a particular reviewer.
3) Certain information in the provider's profile should be assocaited with each review. For example, the donation might change over time. The length of the session might affect the availability of some services, especially MSOG. So, it is better to have the following info be associated and displayed with each review to give a better picture of the session:
-Donation, Length of appt., the services that were offered and any physical features that were different from the provider's profile (i.e. Natural vs implanted, hair color, hair length, etc).
Just my few cents
-1man
1) a ladies board, accessible only to VIP "paid" female members and moderated by a female of course
2) each post, specially a provider weekly ad, should have more editing time, 24 hours is not enough. A week editing period would be nice
3) the posts with new added responses should jump to the top of the page, if is a shill or clearly self promoting shit, the moderator can delete the offenders posts. Simple.
4) a board for New Jersey....come on, we are a HUGE hobbying place and we have no place for our locals to express themselves...NJ is not Philly or NY
I'm against free membership for all reviewed providers. I think TER needs the income to support a board that has no advertisers.
I think the membership money paid to TER should be a form of a provider to give back and say "thank you" to a place that gives her so much exposure and business.
Few hundred dollars a year is not going to hurt a woman who makes that in few minutes.
The reason why editing time is limited is because people were abusing this feature. Someone writes something. If it doesn't go over well, they edit the post later. On one board (Atlanta I think) there used to be a poster who I kept moderated. I would approve his posts and then he would edit them once they were on the board.
FYI...if you want to modify your post after 24 hours, all you have to do is send the board moderator the new information and he'll do the editing for you.
thirsty
Well,
Most of the ideas I had were already mentioned here.
However, there is one that hasn't been brought up. It may not sound like a big deal, but, when you are looking at reviews, it would be nice to have a button to click to go straight to the next review, instead of having to hit the back button every time.
I would allow a lil short provider response to reviews, that way if a review is fake or if the girl disagrees with some portion atleast her voice can be heard
sort of like on EBAY where if you get a negative rating, you can put a lil response abotu why the rating was negative in yoru opinion
I see your point, but then what happens if the provider claims it was fake because she didn't like the rating she was given? Happened to me when I saw a provider in California who had all 9s and 10s, and was supposed to be a GFE. Was more of a PSE, which wasn't what I was after. I think I gave her a 9 for looks and 7 for performance. It wasn't a bad or negative review, and I clearly exlpained the score in the review. She complained, and it was taken down. Now I see why she had all 9s and 10s.
So if the provider can publicly debate the review, does the client who posted thereview get to debate the provider's protest, and how long does it go on?
in the interests of fairness and honesty I think BOTH parties should atleast be given a voice, it is up to the reader to decide which one to believe
Their are TWO sides to every story and then there is the truth.
maybe a simple multiple choice like:
Did the appointment take place? yes/no
Do you agree with the review? completely/somewhat/he's a liar
A history would establish for both reviewers and providers as to how often each individual is in agreement or in conflict.

I completely agree and think it would be a nice way to hear back from the ladies without to much "he said", "she said"
There are some great suggestions so far. I like most of them. My suggestion is a little more of a tiny point compared to some of the more germane ones suggested so far, but here goes:
Get rid of the naked lady on the left hand side. There are times when I access the site from a public site, like a hotspot or something. It's great to stay current on a thread, however, in public areas, it's difficult not to think who might be looking over your shoulder to see what porn site you're looking at due to the picture. While the classic site is still around, I can use that, but once its gone, then I have to try to be more discreet.
-- Modified on 6/26/2005 10:23:39 AM
but remember its just my opinion.
1)I would allow providers 2-3 lines to rebut reviews or add an explaination of a circumstance regarding a review.ie (the son of a bitch was dirty and smelled, I wasn't going to do BBBJ with him.)
2)I think the rating system itself is flawed to a certain degree.Taking away a point because the provider doesn't do anal for me doesnt make sense if its not something requested to beign with. We can only rate performance on experience and whether we didnt look for anal or it never happened due to time constraints should not be a reason to knock a point off or keep certain providers from getting a "10"
3) unmoderate me ![]()
Searching the reviews is one of the best features of the site. As has already been said, a way to search the juicy details for a word or phrase would be great.
Barring that, adding more fields to the reviews. For example, I'd like to see more info about anal rather than just Yes/No. If she does it, is she really into it? If she doesn't do it, how about asian? What about anal play the other way? Will she put on a strap on and do me? How about asian? ![]()
I'd also like to see location required, but not allow the word incall in the location field. We know that it's incall from the incall/outcall field. Maybe change the name of the location field to neighborhood?
I would establish a general TER policy that says all moderators must permit the posting of email
addresses.
with a big cock in their mouth or pussy would be special.
To a great extent I think the present system is good and may only need few changes.
The greatest need for change is to be able to update information on the providers' profiles. Often obsolete info., including prices, is up there that ought to be changed. And it would be an improvement to have reviews get approved more quickly.
I don't see why it hurts to allow several aliases. It serves a purpose in protecting anonymity. One may want to use different names for different types of comments: straight, explicit, humorous. And as it is you can only post reviews under your user name, so there's no need to worry about people posting reviews under aliases.
There could be a ladies' board, but why shouldn't the men have access to it too? After all, the ladies have access to the men's board.
I don't like the idea of having providers attach responses to the reviews themselves. This compromises the reviewing process, and it shouldn't be turned into an ongoing debate. They could respond on the ladies' board or discussion boards. When a theater critic reviews a show, the show people don't get to attach a response to the review itself in the paper, but they can do so in a letter to the editor or their advertisements. Knowing that the providers are responsible for how they treat every client and what the client might write is a quality control that is the purpose of this whole system. The overall average of a provider's rankings gives a picture of a that can compensate for an occasional lesser rating.
-- Modified on 6/27/2005 3:19:56 PM
Know all services a provider performs.
I would provide a venue for providers to post travel schedules. This would increase the ability of the provider to gauge interest in a specific city and also give those interested a one stop shop to view particular providers and tour dates. Using the discussion board makes it much more difficult to sort visiting providers. Of course, attach a link to reviews and possibly summarize number of reviews and averages.
Different idea! What do you think ladies?
thirsty
You guys go a fantastic job and provide a valuable service to the community you serve. You will never be able to please everyone but I am one guy that apprciates the service you provide for us hobbyists....And other then the 2 reviews each month...AT NO COST A rare bargain in todays world!!
With a picture of the "Capedude Sucks" T-shirt?
there are local girls in every town that do not need to advertise....
I have on several occasions, since the format of the website was upgraded, to supply new website info for providers as I read thru the reviews. But when I select the "report bad website" link all I get is a Java error. (this is thru both IE 6 and Netscape browsers)
