Is there anyway to block calls being made from a calling card to my cell phone???? I’ve been receiving harassing calls off and on the past few days, but today they have been nonstop since 5am and it’s beginning to really bother me. The person is using a calling card and I don’t know what to do. Can anyone help me???

On the nat'l board there was a post of things that providers should do/not do... take your pick... seems like hobbiests need the same..

Karina - would it make sense to change the #?  or if the phone has caller ID - have it ring a different way - and just iggy the call.  After a while, if there is not return or response - the person gets no thrill - and may quit...  If this doesn't work?  Report to the phone co?  Just a thought... don't know if that would be practical...

Sorry to hear about your difficulties.  I did call you this morning, but I wasn't calling from a blocked number or calling card. Can you call me back or respond to my email? It sure is tough to reach you.

A call to the phone company is a must. I don't know if they can do anything but it's worth a try. I like the idea of changing the ring tone for that number only. He's right, if the wacko doesn't get you to answer the phone, he doesn't know if he's annoying you. That would annoy him and he'd probably stop. Just my .02. Good luck!

Just don't answer your phone.  No, I'm not being sarcastic.  Just let it go to your voice mail.  When you pick up your voice mail you can just delete the message immediately after you realize it's the "jerk".  He/she will get bored and go away.  Of course he/she will probably to try to start it up again in a week.  So be ready to just go right back to the voice mail method at a moments notice.

Bizzaro is right on point.  Change the ringtone for that incoming number.  Try "I just called to say I love you" by Stevie Wonder or "Young Lust" by Pink Floyd.

What I did is similar to what Bizarro suggested. When their number came up on my phone again, I merely added that number to my phone book and set the ringer for that number to "silent". That was I didn't have to be bothered even hearing the phone ring. All I had to deal with was seeing "Missed calls" on my display at different times of the day. After about 1 1/2 weeks, the calls stopped all together. But I still have that number programmed into my phone JUST IN CASE. I wish you the best of luck ridding yourself of this psycho. But he needs a name. I think I will call him..."The Horny Prowler".

Just ignore it.  It will take time but he will go away.  These phone card numbers are a pain in the A$$.  Silence your phone in the evening when you go to sleep and set your alarm at a decent time.  So you don't have to listen to that aweful ringing at 5am.  Your alarm won't be silenced so you know it's not him calling.

Good luck!

The harassment described above is a bad situation, and there were some good suggestions of how to deal with it. However, everyone should keep in mind that there are legitimate reasons why men call providers using calling cards, such as not wanting to leave a record of the call or a long distance charge on the phone (home or office) from which they are calling, and not everyone has a cell phone from which to call. So the ladies should not categorically refuse to answer calling card calls just because of the antics of some bad apples. I once was disappointed to have someone, with whom I'd already set an appointment, cancel the meeting when I made the confirmation call using a calling card.

I ignore the unknown numbers, and throw them into voicemail. If a gentleman wants to make an appt, he can leave me a message with a forwarding number for me to call him back on.

During christmas time, I will buy a lot of prepaid phones and give them out to my gentleman friends, who I know that don't have a hobbying phone. It works out great.

That is really an interesting gimmick...  really don't know what to say... but I am truly impressed!  Only problem for me is that I like variety and would not want to feel obligated to one provider...
