The answer is simple you will find it in “ Economics 101“. The reason rates in Philly are not as competitive as they are in DC or perhaps NY is simply one word "competition". The lack of competition in Philly is pathetic. On any given day there are maybe 30 reviewed ladies advertising on EROS. Of those maybe 5 of them are agencies. We have become the port of call for B&S agencies. We are lured to a pretty face's and big titties with 0 reviews.  
We need to encourage REAL providers and good agencies to come to our fair city. When we have more real providers here competing for business prices will be more reasonable as they are in DC.

We have to stop scaring away the good ones.
When a lady comes to our city with good reviews we tend to find every negative thing we can about them. .We post our dislike's like children. My mother gave me some very good advice as a youngling. Se said" If you cant say something nice then say nothing at all". I am not talking about exposing rip-offs and B&S that should be done regularly.

For example:  If a good provider comes to town. Is there any need to complain about her being a CBJ girl? Guys give it a break...I personally LOVE BBBJ. I only see ladies that offer it. However there is no need for me to knock those that offer CBJ. Here is a novel idea. Just PASS and go see a different provider. There are many guys out here that are perfectly  fine with CBJ. There is no need to post when a ladies coming to town that you will not be seeing her because she is CBJ.  Can we also please stop all of the rate complaining. I too miss the days of supermodel providers touring for $250. There is no need to complain just don’t see them if they are out of your budget. All of this whining  about rate is how Philly has gotten the rep for being cheap. There are some GREAT agencies and Indys out there that have stop coming to our fair city. I would have a problem seeing the young lady pictured below for $500+hr she works for Gigis  http://www.gigisgirls.com/home.htm  Its been a while since they have sent girls to us.  DC has about 5 different agencies come to their city every month that don’t come here. I think we all want the same thing.
Good selection. Good service and reasonable rates. We cant get them here if every time they send us a girl we badmouth  them.  

Work with me...... and lets try to make Philly a Mecca for good providers and agencies.

...the problem is that it's only going to be the few (very few) trying to convince the masses.  Despite how my post read yesterday re: Ashlan, I was stating EXACTLY what you stated above, if you don't like CBJ or a non-GFE, move-on & don't bitch about it...
I have NEVER complained about rates, etc., mostly I guess b/c I don't have to be as frugal, plus I am used to paying NYC rates, so they are comparable.  

I'm with you on this new movement, Chris, but just look through the pages & pages of threads here, this is far easier said than done, so we need to shoot for the long-term here.

Well said and a little honey here will attract more honeys for us to enjoy. Let's be honest but nice, accurate but non emotional and give out praise when deserved.

You make some good points and as someone who has spent some time hobbying in DC, you are right about the competition and abundance of reasonable rates there.  However, it isn't just about getting more touring girls here, the real bargains are in the local providers and there seems to be more there than here.  Does our complaining on the boards drive them away, or is it the busts that have occurred? It just seems there should be more independents and local agencies available here, when compared to DC. With more are available and the increased competition that goes with it, rates should become more reasonable.

it was more than just that, it has been a combination of things.  For the most part, our city has a huge gap of decent local talent - oh, don't get me wrong - there are several really great ladies in the area, but for the most part, there are nowhere near the number per capita here as there are in say Phoenix AZ (about 100 providers listed on Eros with a metro population of  3.8 million)
while philly's metro area is about 5.8 million folk with about only 113 providers listed on Eros.

I don't know what to do, as I know that there are great touring providers out there.... and I know that some actually do like philly, but for the great number, this seems to be a dead zone.  

I think that for the most part, when I read the reviews in other parts of the country, they too have B&S and NC/NSs - and they too complain.  Do we complain more?  Are we too vocal? I don''t think so.  For the most part, what I have heard consistently from more than one tourning lady is that when they come here, they just don't get the booking (either advance or that day) to justify the trip!  I will post this on the general discussion board - to see what is thought nationally!  ok?!

Business is the engagement of one entity by another for mutual benefit or profit through the sale or exchange of goods or services.
Thats a concept we need to start embracing. It has implications for both parties which might improve the state of things. Both parties need to live up to their end of the bargain and be accountable when they are not. We need to be courteous and on time; mindful of cleanliness and considerate, observant of ethical behaviour and discretion. In return we should be assured of the same, manifest in the little things like showing up or calling to explain why not, providing entertainment as described by terms and standards well enough described that its implausible to imply ignorance of them  (ie 140 lb is not 240lb, a 10 year old picure isnt good enough for the DMV, it isnt good enough for me, and self serv isnt full serv).
And before I get to the ladies, here's another thing WE need to do...acknowlege that we are not each the arbiters of taste...your perfect 10 may be my 'no thanks' but thats not for anyone to debate really..even here in philly there's a pot for every lid (and while Im at THAT, somebody help the poor bastard a few threads down that wants a girl with large labia, he's in a bad way and his only response is for a provider who has already left town! show him some LOVE..or pictures of your butterfly collection at least). And lets stop bitching about rates and buy what you can afford and politely decline what you cant...nothing speaks louder that a phone that aint ringing. Understand that values and moraes still leave an imprint enough that having the rates one charges for intimacy questioned leaves a worse taste in ones mouth than a cleaveland steamer.
Now for the one that rankles the white knights- I am tired of reading about wanting to leave "but the little head was thinking", and I damn sure got tired of doing it... so if the person on the other side of the door isnt the one in the picture...politely excuse yourself and LEAVE before you drop a donation. THAT is the only SURE way to stop the nonsense. Are we afraid a half naked woman will scream down a hotel hallway at us? are we scared they'll call our work phone number? doubtful in the extreme. Tolerating unethical behaviour only perpetuates it.
And lastly, fer chrissake, get some perspective, NONE of this is even a little important or worth stressing over...to wit, if a young lady stands you up, inform of the evnt and drop it, when a pattern arises, a word to the wise is sufficient. When a young lady is clearly 'troubled' and reacts to EVERYTHING by getting as mean as a snake...give her some space, dont engage her and give the behaviour attention.

I don't believe that there has been a problem with supply. However, the last 3 or 4 girls that I've sent your way, had horrible tours.

Each of these girls are gorgeous with Stellar reviews. I personally, have always had a great time while touring Philly, but it seems that things have changed drastically. As stated in my post above, I am willing to start sending girls again, although I must admit that they're quite leary of the outcome and to be honest, there's no excuse for it.

If you don't support touring girls....don't whine when you can't get anyone to tour your area.

Ever since the LE raided the brothel houses a few years ago, the choices in Philly are no where near what it used to be. There is no shortage in supply, just not the quality and rate.  In fact, the moderate rate in Philly lures more visiting to come to the city. Philly is rated top among major cities of having the highest percentage of Eros visiting. Unfortunately, that high percentage also include B&S and pricy ladies.

I am lucky that I don't have to confine myself to hobby locally, as I take biz trips to DC often and take advantage of the better choices and rate there.  Even at home, I rarely see local ladies anymore but rather take road trips to see ladies in CNJ where the choices are as good as in DC. My favorte agencies in CNJ are IndyGirls and YourLittleSecret and there are other choices there that I haven't explored.  

The good news is the IndyGirls is setting up an agency for SNJ/Philly soon.  You never know. The tide may change.  A few years ago, I hobby 80 percent locally because I can't find better deal elsewhere.  Lately, I hobby 80 percent away from home because the local supply sucks.

It's true. The badmouthing of touring providers on the Philly boards is strong.

Heaven forbid a girl doesn't have a review. She's accused of possibly being a scam artist, rip off artist, con woman etc.  

I've toured, without reviews, for months and never got the bashing like I got in Philly. I've toured Boston, Cleveland, Tampa, Orlando, Atlanta, Charlotte, New York, New Jersey and DC in the last 90 days. But only Philly made me cry.

I see where you are coming from; problem is these Philly guys just don't get it. The solution is simple, just visit the other sites you mentioned & skip Philly. W.C.Fields said it best: "I spent a year in Philadelphia; I think it was on a Sunday".

After looking at your pics I am amazed you did not have a good response in Philly. Where was christophtrac? Come to NNJ; Airport or Meadowlands or Edison. I guarantee we will fill up your scheduel.

1)  Don't ever cancel with a provider, except for the most compelling of reasons.  Too many top notchers like Jamie of Flawless and Victoria Jolie of Taylor's Elite tell me they get a lot of cancellations.  Not good.

2)  When you find a gem, quickly post a mini on the discussion board. Let's generate traffic for those who deserve it.

You are so right. One of the reasons Victoria left BDJ was they constantly wanted to send her to Philly. She told me her appointments were disappointing which is unbelievable. Here is a girl whose service & performance is spectactular & she can't fully book in Philly. What is wrong here with you guys?

over the weekend, I will try to summarize and write a general review... Odd, as we seem to be very good at bashing ourselves as well!  but then again, it's philly.... a city that can't quite come to grips with the fact that it is a great place to live.

I think it's more a case of a city that can't come to grips with the fact they will always be second fiddle to NYC.

As the moderator of the pornstar and NYC boards (although a resident of S. Jersey) I'm friendly with a LOT of providers, from touring providers to pornstars, as well as several agency owners, and WITHOUT exception, their biggest complaint about Philly has nothing to do with TER or BD...

Their problem with Philly is that we're notorious for having THE highest cancellation and no-show rate of any major city, and by a large margin.  I hear it time and time again from providers and agencies.  Girls come to this city with 10 or 12 pre-bookings and often end up only having 3 or 4 guys actually show up.

So the reason that many quality agencies like BDJ or Apres Vous rarely if ever send girls here is strictly financial.  There are lots of great Florida based agencies that routinely send girls to DC and NYC and skip right over Philly for that very reason.

I have been to philly a few times as a visiting hobbyist and I have pretty happy with the local providers you all have. I have also noticed that there are some visiting providers who don't visit DC but visit philly.

I can't confirm the allegation that Philly guys have more cancellation than other cities, but I've read the same complaints in DC and other boards.  

Here is one statistical fact based on my counting of Eros listing back in May 06.

Maybe we need to put on some kind of campaign drive.  We need to change the perception of the hobby industry in the city, that we're not all cheap, or a bunch cry babies, or cancel appointments.

Maybe we could contact some of the more reputable agencies about sending some of their girls here, and the independents as well.

Just the other week Simone Dupree was in town, I hope her week went well and she’ll come back more often.  

Also we need to stop with all bashing of a few locale providers in the area, who by the way always have good reviews.  We’re not the only ones reading our board; providers and agencies read it to just get the feel of the business.

As far as the financial aspect of the hobby, that’s really a personal issue.  I for one limit my hobbying to once or twice a month and try to see only well reviewed providers.

You're so sweet, thank you. Actually, I was booked solid in Philly because I received many calls from non-TER members who had never heard of TER and don't base decisions on reviews.

***HOWEVER, I also received calls from many of the top TER reviewers in Philly. When I say top, I am talking about guys with dozens of reviews to their credit.

So start sending the flames. I'm ready. Here's a breakdown.

Reviewer #1 - Scheduled a date for a day when I was not hosting. So he agreed to host. Later, he decided not to host and canceled at the last minute (one hour before the date & by EMAIL!)

Reviewer #2 - Called to tell me that I was probably not legit because I had no reviews. Actually, I do have a review now (but not then).

Reviewer #3 - Insisted that I cut my rates in half. WTF? Is that English because I only speak French!!!!

Reviewer #4 - We played email tag for the entire tour. He insisted that I go into graphic detail about my services because I had no reviews. I refused but he kept sending emails.

I could only get non-TER members to pull the trigger. That's how you come to philly without reviews and leave philly without reviews. I've decided to stop posting ads on TER. FYI - If a girl has enough balls to post an ad on TER, be nice to her because she might be a future Porn Star.

it summarizes a lot of what I have been reading in other posts, as well as PM's that I have received...  We gotta clean up our act or continue with things as they are.... our choice...

but need to say, we (the group of us who wish this to change - WILL HAVE TO work together - as my plan is very different!)

In short - it will involve a M&G of those of us who care.  and will extend an invitation to some of the better agencies - and providers.  to get them to sample our hospitality.  Interested????

Since I missed the DC M&G because I was in Philly for business, I'm in.  I live in MD but travel to Philly at least a few days a week.  Actually, I would feel a bit more comfortable at a Philly M&G.  DC is too close to home.
