Ok, so I am rushing home from my real job, because I have a pre-booked appointment from a dude (he is not fit to be called a gentleman btw!) from the west coast. I get home, get ready, do the whole 9 yards. This guy was supposed to call me at 5pm when his plane landed. I wait, wait and WAIT, no call. So I decide to call him, he answers. Conversation goes like this:

Me: Hey, how's your flight?
Guy: It went well, I'm already checked in.
Me: Oh great, so what's going on?
Guy: Honestly I was going to call you in a little bit to let you know I don't want to see you because I didn't realize your rate was $350. (Mind you, the appointment was at 7pm and he wasn't going to let me know if I didn't call him)
Me: (SHOCKED, annoyed but still composed) Oh, I thought when you sent me your screening information that you went through my whole site and understood my rates.
Guy: Yeah, I went through other sites and had their rate in mind and the rate got stuck in my head and I thought yours was the same.
Me: Well that just totally threw me off because I left work early to come home and get ready for today and you're cancelling?
Guy: We didn't really have anything set today
Me: (Thought in my head was to argue, but...) Well you made a date to see me today and that was my understanding. Good luck on seeing someone else.

Ok, mind you we spoke twice over the last few days and he said he wouldn't mind seeing me after his flight. I mean seriously?! If you made an appointment, keep it?! WTF? I understand shit happens but this is just plain rotten! This is like two times over the last two weeks this happened! All from traveling guys. Common courtesy would've been appreciated, because I extend the same.

Ladies, if you want these two guys' info, I'd be happy to share.

The guy sounds like a real Jabroni, to use a pro wrestling term.  To those who do not follow this great "sport", it means the guy who always gets a beating, AKA a loser.  Sounds to me like the guy was trying to negotiate the rate.  What a joke - make a commitment, keep a commitment.  The guy got a better offer - from Rosie Palm and her five sisters.

I had turned down a previous engagement today, because I never see more than one client a day.  I have a real job (two of them actually), family, and a life that I have to rearrange to accomodate my dates.  I understand my rate is a tad higher than some providers, but his reasoning was beyond comprehension.  

Oy....I'm just going to go work out my frustrations!

No..... No. No. No. No. Fuck That. Your rate is not out of whack with the local economy and that had nothing to do with it. The guy is just a dick plain and simple. I know a bit about rearranging your life to fit around work. It sucks. You always feel like you're gonna miss something and fuck every other thing up.  Sorry but fuck that guy. That was just plain rude and inconsiderate.

PS If I was the only guy you saw the day we met last year than I appreciate it even more now.

Very sad. It should not be a problem because many companies pay per diem. If you are conservative you can come out with a windfall and have enough to hobby. Sounds like he was just being a real jerk.

Things like this just shouldn't happen, especially to someone like you who obviously goes the extra mile to treat others well.

I have only been seeing one person/day when I am home (since December 06) and on tour, I am still considered low volume, concentrating on multi-hour and quality gentlemen.  

When we met, you were the only person I saw that day, henced being unrushed and all.

On the flipside, I was able to use that aggression on playing sports today.

Quite frankly. Your website commits some of the most egregious hobby 101 sins. Music first off. Over-thought and over-produced. Information is unclear. But where you truly loose this argument is that your rates are buried five clicks into your website. Also, you site doesn't load properly in Firefox so a FF user may not have even seen rates posted. I had to switch to IE to view them.

Also, not everyone has VIP status so it's not fair to assume that the guy truly knew your rate when he researched you. As we all know, there are lot of websites out there where the information that's out dated. As an example, when I Googled your e-mail address what do you think I found? I found a post from you on another board saying that its boards members were entitled to a $300 special rate. So there would appear to be a basis for this hobbyists misunderstanding.

So until you undertake correcting the omissions on your site and make rate information much clearer AND ON THE FRONT PAGE, I think you need to take at least some responsibility for the gentleman's misunderstanding rather than putting all the blame on the hobbyist.

Mind you, I am not excusing him but before I go throwing a fellow hobbyist under the bus, I'll reserve judgment until we hear his side of the story.

he does not know you, and from what you've said, he cannot comprehend the hardship he has place on you.

Gotta say, this is the part of this 'hobby' I hate.

He has VIP membership and there is still no excuse for his actions.  Do not make excuses for this guy's actions.  If the rates were unclear he should've asked before proceding further and if the rates weren't in his budget which he knew before flying 5 hours from the west coast he should've cancelled then and there.

My website has been highly praised and has been well-thought of.  The site was specifically deigned to make you go through the ENTIRE site not just click on the photos and be done with it.  The guy who contacted was well-versed with computers (he really has no excuse) and even before you get to submitting the form the rates appear.

Moral of the story:  Double-Double check the rates of the provider before making an appointment.  

My fault was not double checking with him  and asking him if my rates were acceptable which shouldn't have been anyway.  You role as a hobbyist is to research before booking so unfortunate incidences like this never happens especially for someone who goes OUT OF THEIR WAY to make these things happen.

And that discount I mentioned was for old friends and active forum members from last week.  This week's discount was $50 off for my old lovers.  New clients fall under the new rates.

I went prepared with the higher price.  But AFTER the session, I told her that she should correct that... to reflect what she offers as her rate... hopefully she did... but to be honest, it is a no brainer... this guy was clearly trying to get a bargain.

I kinda thought that was the case.  Doesn't he know that negotiating rates is just downright rude and classless.  It puts a damper on the session and it doesn't make for a good time.  I wouldn't let anyone negotiate my rates and I explained why they were slightly higher for a reason.  Thanks R2T!

No, your rates are not negotiable and he should have  been prepared, but why not say Hey I'll give it to you for $300......no big deal. Keeo your eye on the prize!!

OK everyone wants to hear from the jerk. I admit it wasn't the coolest thing I have ever done. I did see the price initially, but in looking at other providers before making the so called date, everyone else was at $300. Do you all belong to a union? I probably should have called before my flight(my bad), but it really wasn't 100% confirmed. The conversation was left as are you flexible if Tuesday doesn't work. We didn't know if my flight might be delayed or if I would be too tired to keep up. So while Tuesday was the intended date it wasn't locked in and I certainly am sorry you turned down a date. The thought of trying to squeeze a bargain was the farthest thing from my mind. I feel it was an honest mistake, but poorly handle. You won't have to worry about me lurking as I will likely never be in Philly again.

Also I don't have a VIP membership.

i have been lucky - the reason for most cancelations in my case is family-related.  but i have heard of ladies in situations like yours, sloane, where what actually happened is the client double booked, and chose at the last minute who would go cheaper.

I don't need to say more.  I am not negotiable.  The appointment was made, then he said he didn't want to see me anymore because of my rate, what am I?  Not worth $350?  LOL.  Clearly he was mistaken and I do not entertain men who behave this way.  I won't have a good time and neither will he.  

I have standards and I adhere to them.  I may be a provider but I have principles.
