Having dated both providers & civilians in the last year, I can say...providers are MUCH safer about sex.
I'm writing an article for a local paper. (can't name wich one but let's just say it's a free one and everything will be confidential) Has anyone in this area ever caught a disease from a provider or hobbyist. Obviously i'm not expecting anyone to give anything away but you can answere with an alias or P.M me. While i'm not sure this post will garner any responses, someone suggested giving it a shot. thanks for the honesty.

lumping the hobby into STD category. Why don't don't you post on CL, or interview some streetwalkers? When your article appears, I will have something to kindle my fireplace with.
Somoene posted this on the DC board.
Yep. The thing is do WE really care ?
We better.
I thought about it long and hard, no pun intented, and I quit the 3BJ's. For those who don't understand, that means, no more bare back blow jobs for me.
Dude, or dudette, this post is dumb. You enter here with an alias - and ask a question which all on this board would be dumber than shit to answer.... Here is my suggestion - that to become a TER member it should be verified that you actually have seen or you actually are a provider.
We've seen (since I have been a member) too many wives - girlfriends - sickos - and others come on TER and create problems.
If you REALLY REALLY wanted to do this right, you would have worded this request as follows:
Dear TER membership:
My name is John (Jane) Smith. I hold a BS in journalism from Washington State University (Edward R Murrow went there) in Pullman WA. Currently, I freelance write but some of my bylines have appeared in Forbes, Newsweek and The philadelphia Enquirer. One example of my work is "the ducks fly south" published in Newsweek Dec 5, 2005 pp 15-19. I am doing a story on the risks involved in seeing providers in our region. I plan to offer this to "the weekly" publication when I complete the piece. I will be speaking with public health officials, as well as with the CDC.
Information that you share with me will be held in confidence and your identity will be protected. I ask that you use an alias in communicating with me.
You may send your responses to PO Box 111, philadelphia, PA 191000.
Thank you for your assistance.
Sincerely
John doe.
Dude... were I to do this... this is what I would write... but you are WAY OUTTA line.

...the responses get nasty fast, the general tenor often feels like..'dont bring this up and ruin my fun' or 'stop reminding me theres a 800lb gorilla in the corner' . Are we men or little boys that we need our girlfriend experience delusion and our this is safe head in the sand? Fer Chrissake, the guy asked a question, he or anybody should have the right. Like a Rorshak, its our response that tells the story. god forbid we have to actually balance the genital rubbing or the bbbjtc we (or some) crave with actually facing in an informed way, the risks.
And dont give me any shit about 'the caliber of providers', the one time I got ANYTHING was from one of THE top national touring ladies, and she damn well KNEW what she had when we met, because she asked me about a pharmacy for antibiotics as we got dressed. (guess that was suposed to be my heads up, after the act and donation of course).
then I offered a solution - I did not just rant - I provided a solution -- one that I might add is used in journalism.... FACT FINDING! 101.
All too often in today's world, people who pass themselves off as "Journalists" do not credibly report what they investigate or do a very poor job of investigation - witness the lunacy surrounding Global warming, or that Hillary was piled on by the guys, or the hapless Duke LaCross team... yea, trust someone who otta the blue asks for info? sheese.
As for my concrete suggestion - make no mistake about my suggestion - Edward R. Murrow DID attend WSU in Pullman. and it is no mistake that I invoked his name and suggested that this person provide his credentials... this would have gone a lot better with me had he/she so done....
I mean really, if someone randomly walked up to you on the street and asked if you had the clap from hobbying - what on earth would you do?
Get a grip..... I'm not trying to protect the ladies only - I am trying to protect the community as a whole....
As far as real stats... on communicable diseases in the community.... I DO think that worth doing... BUT by folks who have the appropriate credentials... you know like a public health degree? rather than some nameless faceless person who can't seem to learn the proper way to conduct research.
really.... this is all journalism 101.
It is the manner in which he/she presented the question.
There is a procedure in which it could've been followed. Plus can you tell, the punctuations and spelling is not quite right.
S
Just to add my voice to the chorus, why would any of us entrust ANY information to someone who has offered us nothing in the way of credentials?
Add to that the fact that the Baltimore Sun just ran a multiple-part article covering much of the same ground, albeit at the low end (streetwalkers) -- do we need this?

Goya, you missed my point. I don't have a problem discussing the subject, and in fact, read the matter whenever it is posted, with interest.
The problem I have is someone unknown comming to TER, and publicizing the negatives. How would you like it if you answered this person, and the article comes out and quotes "Goya1 from TER"
No good will come out of this article, because the civies who will read this article do not fully understand the hobby, and us.
Hawk lost all of his hair.
Why post under the alias if such a legit motive to the post? Furthermore, how would someone p.m. you since you are posting under an alias?
I really doubt that this post is actually legit anyways. As mentioned, it's sure not the way to accroach the subject.
