It's easier and safer for the cops to go after "social" crimes than to do real police work. Like, maybe arrest some armed gang-bangers. Or go after some of these white-collar ponzi thieves. The authorities can puff their chests out at a news conference after a prostitution bust, and act like they are doing something. Like George Carlin said, why is it illegal to pay somebody to give you an orgasm?
